(jhcal26 @ Sep. 29 2008,06:10) Can anyone give me an opinion of LK Renaissance v. PBR?  I have reservations at PBR but it's only for the single at 1000 baht.  And while it's a very good deal, I'd prefer something more spacious.  Is LKR loud?  Is it discrete or on a busy soi?  Thanks.
LK Renaissance would be in a different class to those standard rooms at PBR however, so is the price (2300 V 1000)
LK is in a very busy Soi with traffic in both directions and plenty of lively outdoor bars & certainly not discrete until you close that bedroom door

If your budget is in the 1000 per night territory then PBR is the place to be but yes the rooms are rather small for stays longer than a few days.

Hey jhcal26 I just got back from LK Renaissance and the hotel was great. I only paid 1500 Baht a night there and the service was fantastic. I like the Soi Diana location better than the PBR location. I also got a room in the back of the hotel and it was quite. The breakfast buffet is nothing special but the servers are nice and they make good omlettes. The manager of the hotel ( I forget his name but mentioned above) was great and very helpful. So if you dont mind paying an extra 500 Baht a night I would stay at KL Renaissance even though I never stayed at PBR.

On the face of it, looks ok but the area is not the best when heading home after dark because a lot of homeless people hang out under that elevated piece of roadway which is close by
Also, you are a long way from the excellent shopping malls, cafes and restaurants.
          Definitely better options elsewhere.

That R-Con place looks interesting, I may check that out myself especially as Soi Buakaow is looking a lot better these days

The PBR is in a much more discrete location than the LK Renaissance. Not a bar in sight of the PBR yet easy enough to get to 2nd Road or Soi Buckhow.

(EyeMahk @ Sep. 22 2008,15:43) Pattaya Bay is nice, and not too far from 2nd Rd and Soi 13.  I like LK Mansion near the corner of Soi Buakao and Second Rd. 800 baht low season, great room.
Not trying to be picky here, but since Second Rd and Soi Buakow are parallel, how can there be a corner of those two streets? They obviously can never intersect. Perhaps I am missing something.
                Just saw this ... sorry.

                It should have read:

I like LK Mansion near the corner of Soi Buakao and Central Rd.

Sabai in on Soi 2 is best value for money in town.  Look at the special discount room rates on their internet site.

900 baht a night for spotless clean big room and no problems at all with taking LB's.

(pattayachris @ Oct. 10 2008,15:46) Sabai in on Soi 2
People often say Soi 2 is too far from the main action.

But I think Soi 2 is perhaps the best location because it's so easy to get back home there from anywhere by baht bus.

And a easy walk to Soi 6 or Big C.

You can use the pool across the soi at Sabai Lodge for free if staying at Sabai Inn.

I was looking at staying at r-con residence at Xmas but they don't appear to have internet access except in their internet room.

Has anyone stayed at the Sunview Palace (www.sunviewplacepattaya.com) in Soi Buakhaow?

Not stayed there however, I undertook an inspection of the place and rooms in January 08 and decided it was a bit down market/basic for me

Tried to get in at a friend's guesthouse in Soi Buakao over Xmas but he's fully booked. He said that despite what's going on in the world it looks like a busy period in Patts. Have got somewhere else sorted now so will be out mongering
I couldn't give a shit how long it is until you're next holiday- I live here
