Some BM's were having the discussion the other night.

All agreed there were more than 5K bars.

I'd say 10K though. One little beerbar complex alone could have 30 bars. Then there's Naklua and Jomtien. And across 3rd Road. And across Sukhumvit. And the bars only Thai's drink at.

No one really knows.

But if you had one beer a day in 10 different bars it might take 3 years till you visited every bar.

to spend an entire week boozing in Soi 6 makes no sense to me when Pattaya boasts one of the great sex streets in the world, Walking Street.

As a comparison Soi Bangla in Phuket comes to mind, the Reiperbahn in Hamburg is not the same, others may know of more, but for me, Walking Street is it.

And I know I wrote a few negative things about JennyStarBar (it can be intimidating for a newbie) but don't stop at one visit, call in every night - have a drink, just say hello,

after a few visits the girls will warm to you & you will be part of the craziness, afraid maybe but more alive than you have been for most your life.

Hang onto your wallet & your groin, you'll get used to it & when you return to your humdrum existence home in the 'burbs, you'll always have the memory of hanging out in Ladyboy Central (or Sleaze Central I think I referred to it).

I was told that the City of Pattaya has 8,000 bars - that EXCLUDES Jomtien and Naklua etc.

Bars regularly open/close and change hands. PiggDog is correct - any small Soi can have about 40 bars. Most bars average 6/8 staff and that excludes the emporiums in Walking St etc.

Pattaya City stretches from Dolphin Roundabout/Rotary in the North to South of Pattaya Tai in the South. It goes from Beach Road to Sukhammvit. For those prepared to explore there are lots of bars in Jomtien/Naklua and Est of Sukummvit.

Estimated population of working girls, in Pattaya, is 80,000.

Estimated number of LB's, in Pattaya - 3,000 to 4,000. Sisters group, who are a 'working' LB association, has 1,000 members in Pattaya alone.

This reminds me of the two guys from Belfast ( both in their 50's) I met sat in the bar opposite JSB while I was waiting for BigTel.

They were telling me it was their first visit to    and had just spent two days in BKK and thought that was "mad" but it didn't compare to Walking Street and were there for a month.

One of them then commented on how beautiful a girl looked sat outside the JSB.
With a "wry" smile on my face I told him she was in fact a ladyboy.

His face was a "picture" of amazement and even more so when I pointed out the many other ladyboy's including Emma/Amy "strutting" their stuff closeby.

I then confessed to them my experiences with ladyboys and he asked me if it was about "curiosity" without even a hint of malice or disgust towards me
I replied "I suppose it was but now I dont look back and love and enjoy their company"

I could see his mind "doing overtime" by now so I jokingly said if he got "caught out" he could always not tell his mates or even say he was "pissed" at the time

His response was a "gem",
"Fuck that, I will tell them and that I was sober too"  

My only regret is that I did not invite them along with me, BigTel, Burenboy and Mike for the night as I often wonder if them two guys from Belfast did ever find their way to the "darker side"

I really like that place. It's very nice to sit at the front of the bar and watch the tourists. I think a lot of them are interested but afraid to go inside.

Your not wrong there Dutch, the amount of guys I've seen contemplating whether or not to enter or approach the girls in JSB keeps me entertained while drinking and watching from the bar opposite.

Hi, I have done a serch of this topic to find any referance to the Apex Hotel on 2nd Road without success. The hotel is located on secound road about 200 meters north of Mike Dept. Store on the opposite side of the road.
It has an excellent buffet B/F & Dinner and reasonable priced rooms.
I have used the buffet on several occasions in the company of my LB companion but never stayed in the hotel. My ?, can anyone tell me:
1 Are they LB friendly for guests. I always book a double room but take different guests.
2 What are the rooms like

i stayed there for one night about 5 years ago....

the rooms are crap....smelly and musty ....

one night was enough....not a bad position though....

there are heaps of brand new guest hoses on soi honey Inn for about 800bt per night....

Even my Old favorite the Bay Breeze on soi Honey Inn is charging 800 bt now....

you gotta love the new rooms with clean Air...forget the Old crappy hotels with 20 year old carpet...

(perth_couple @ May 03 2008,00:42) We really like Best Beach Villas on soi 5. Sure its a bit of a baht bus ride away from soi Yamoto and Walking st but it is close to soi 6 Close to Big C and bars down 'that end' of town..

It is relatively new, very nice staff, decent rooms (start from around 1400 for a decent room!) and very friendly indeed. We have taken couples, ladyboys, groups, random strangers back to our room as guests and have never had a problem..

Only drama we have found is it doesnt have wireless.. Its a prick..

Oh, it also has a great pool and good food - though apart from the occasional club sandwhiches, we eat Thai...

I am shocked at how much hotels in pattaya are not listed on agoda!

The following are missing::

pattaya bay resort
beach view hotel
dynasty inn
penthouse
Sandy Springs
Sunshine&Residences Hotel
Whitehouse Condotel

That leaves only 4 "all green" hotels in pattaya that are bookable over agoda and have pool & free internet:
- LK renaissance
- nova platinum
- tim boutique
- residence gardens (but I'd never book a room without a safe)
