I just spent 3 weeks at the Deevana, it's about a 10 minute walk to bangla, or you can get a tuk tuk,

The resort is excellent, it's very guest friendly and spotlessly clean, I'll be staying there again and would recommend it

I paid 1.900 baht per night for a room with a private Jacuzzi, you can get rooms there a lot cheaper, but i prefer a bit of comfort, and there was nothing better than coming home late with your girl and sitting in the jacuzzi for a while before before you got at it

Your right about the fee for girls... 500baht they stung me for when i 1st stayed there.... for the 2days that im staying at royal paradise ive booked me and my invisible girlfriend in ive called her Mrs Lade Joiner

I'm not a huge Daveena fan myself, but it's a clear step above patong villa. I've stayed several times at the Royal Paradise. A beautiful room in the Royal Wing - the newer and better wing for sure - 4 stars - can be had for under 2000thb/night. One of the older rooms in the tower for about 1200 - of course that depends on availability. Different travel agents in Patong have "relationships" with different hotels. I believe KJB South gets a great deal at Daveena while Kata Agency gets a great deal at Royal Paradise. Ask around. My recommendation, check out a few places online and get their 'best rates', even check out "latestay.com" and then just walk into one of the agencies and ask them to match it. They'll probably offer you an alternative - go take a look. What the hell, you wanna look around anyway right? On the south end of the beach are some Beautiful places - that can cost over 4000thb/night, but I prefer staying in EASY walking distance of soi bangla. Thus The Royal Paradise. For much less you can stay just as close at C&N Hotel among others. There are also a BUNCH of "rooms" for rent around the Paradise area - where all the gay clubs and several pseudo-cabaret shows can be found - where they just don't care WHO you bring home. Walk around, read the signs, check out the rooms. Some are pretty decent. Hell you've got to do SOMETHING in the daytime while all the ladyboys sleep!

If you wanna stay "on the beach", get the hell out of patong.

Last year I stayed in Sunset beach resort, nice rooms, back entrance so I never really passed by reception area which located in different building. It's not that close to the action area but I don't think it's far.
