The breakfast is mediocre at best.

The scrambled eggs are watery and barely cooked and have tomato pieces in them! The bacon is precooked the day before and you get a slice of tasteless ham and a cheap hot dog also. The toast is OK but they give you a 'curl' of cake mix instead of butter to spread on it. The potatoes are the best bit but they are VERY greasy.

The coffee is disgusting. I defy anyone to drink a cup.

Westerners are going to struggle to enjoy the restaurant. Pop down the road to Villa for all your food requirements.

damm was cheated they left the tomatto out of the egg.

I have stoped breakfast there now.

Mixed grill not too bad for dinner tho.

Not much more expensive than Kiss and u get aircon. All day breakfast 58 baht.

But you can't buy a cheap lighter, teddy bear, or DVD while chewing yoiur food.

can any one tell me why they charge 500 baht deposit never had this before how,s it work do they take one 500 and just carry it over the nights your there or 500 for every night

I have had them do that once before because they didn't take nor want to take a credit card impression...It's been some time back, but as I recall they just handed the cash back to me when I checked out...

I only stay at PBR.

Either Deluxe or Mini Suite.

Last trip in march, I booked a Deluxe Suite for a week.

I requested a smoking room.

However, they booked me in a non-smoking room.

There were no smoking deluxe rooms left so they upgraded me at no charge to a suite.

It was great. The couch was that far from the bed I could almost not hear the lb snoring in the background.

Decent pool.

No comment on the breakfast menu as I usually get home when breakfast is being served.

On my many trips in Pattaya I always stayed in this hotel or areca lodge. This hotel is great and I never had any problems. With the deposit I had the same but when I left they paid back the deposit . I rarely use a creditcard after it was hacked one time ( by the way in europe not in thailand).
I love the rooms , fair prices and no problem with lb's. Free internet is good thing too. Only the restaurant I cannot recommend. But there are many other choices around so that cannot be a problem to skip this hotel. The owner put a lot of hard work in his hotel. He is very nice and you can talk with him. Only in may during my very short stay with my friend captain kirk in pattaya they were booked so I had to stay at the royal cliff hotel.
(expensive and tight security like a gulag camp)

thanks for replies guys but what i whant to know is if your staying for say 4 days do they take 2000 baht or just 500 and carry that over to the next night etc if there is no problem iam thinking of staying 12 nights and need to know how much baht to allow

One thing I never quite figured out is whether the security deposit is just for breakage or does it also apply to early checkout?

I just spent two nights there...Booked online and didn't pay a deposit...When I checked in I paid for both nights upfront and they didn't charge a deposit...It seems that their security deposit is maybe a sometime thing...

I would think they will only take 500 Baht not 500/night.

Why not e-mail the PBR and ask them?

I was staying there with Stogie and TTChang a few weeks ago.  As we checked out the owner came and talked to Stogie for a few minutes.
He came across as a decent guy so I'm sure if you asked him a straight question he'd give you a straight answer.

this should intrest any one thinking of staying at the pbr i emailed them about the deposit they wrote back saying that the 500 baht per night deposit is capped at 3000 baht ? makes sense to me tried to get standard room in mid july but all booked have gone for delux instead hopefully

Once you have been there a couple of times they don't bother with that stuff.

Shame the place is so full though! I won't bother going if I can't stay there.
