  • I really do like the deluxe rooms at the PBR, loads of space, good natural light plus a handy kitchenete for that all important cup of tea/coffee and toasted sarnies.
    However, the last time I stayed there was around 18 months ago now and even then (such a short while after opening) I noticed some of the fixtures and fittings, especially in the bathroom were either broken or suffering wear & tear.
    Has anyone else noticed this or is their maintenance team keeping on top of any minor repairs

    • This hotel is making very nice low season prices!

      Up to 31 October, if you stay 6 nights, the 7th is offered (from standard room ... to presidential room!).
      It means that the cost per room can be as low as:
      * standard :   857 b/night
      * deluxe : 1372 b/night
      * mini & 1 bedroom :  2143 b/night
      * presidential : 2572 b/night
      Very good prices indeed! I will stay in a standard room: this will save me money for sponsoring a team at the Charity Volley Ball !! ( Big Bash 2009 )
      Besides, the party will be at the PBR!
      Perfect!!!!

      I have also asked them if the 500b for the 3rd guest still apply if I take a superior room (mini-suite, 1 bedroom, presidential), as the best rooms are designed for up to 4 guests. Unfortunately here is what they told me yesterday:
      All of our room charges are for 1 - 2 people.  If you check in alone and bring one guest back for the night, there is no additional charge.  If you have a third or fourth person in the room over-night, then there is an additional charge of 500.00 baht per night per person which covers extra towels, amenity supplies and breakfast the next morning.
      Pity... otherwise I would have indulged myself with the presidential!
      a froggy, lost in translation and in Africa... and no, I am not the one on the pic swinging a club ... I am the one holding the pin !!!

      • Much ado about nothing.... the PBR seems very very secure and safe, but if you can't afford to lose it, then either don't bring it or don't leave it out. My only complaint about the PBR is the safes are too small, especially considering I'm staying in the Presidential Suite. I had to be very clear with the staff about the money I was leaving out as a tip, otherwise they never picked it up! Ultimately, the friends we bring back to the loom are far more of a security concern than any of the staff at the PBR.

          Leave it on the bed.

          That's the understood signal it's a tip.

          • I was a bit annoyed when I arrived at the PBR this time as the prices now do not include VAT so you need add another 7% so the standard room is 1399 THB per night but is really 1497 THB (they round up).

            Also you do not get the stay 7 pay 6 from November 1 to April 14 so a room that was 856 THB per night during low season has almost doubled in price in high season.

            • Too bad this hotel is gone. It was my favourite hotel in Pattaya. For me the location was perfect... 2 minutes to second road and the baht bus to Soi Six and a slow five minutes to Soi Buakhao. Great place, great staff and a fair price. Yet nothing can replace the memories:

                Nice line up you have their Soju....

                Looks like the members here have laid some serious pipe at this location.

                • About a year and a half ago (give or take a couple of months) it shut down for renovations. The plan was to reopen late 2017 but I don't think they ever started any work on the place. As others mentioned, slowly over a period of four or five years other hotels encroached around it.
                  Used to love the balcony for late night bjs but during my last stay you could see directly into the rooms of other hotels. Some ladies be shy

                  • Nice lineup indeed, Going to be in Pattaya next week, thinking of staying at the Flipper. Plan on spending most of my time in the Soi 6 area, with just a night or two on Walking Street. Any feed back on the Flipper Lodge? Thanks....

                    • Mate, I can't offer any info on the Flipper Lodge, but, if I may, I would recommend April Suites if you are planning on spending your time around Soi 6. There is a thread here on this forum about April Suites but it is quite dated. I am booked at April Suites for 16 nights in January and have stayed here several times since the demise of Pattaya Bay Resort. Will update April thread after/during my trip.
                      Anyway, April Suites is a leisurely 5 minute walk down 2nd Road to Soi 6 and the short cut through August Suites means you can be on Central Road in a couple of minutes...thus a quick jaunt to Soi Baukhao or Soi 7. Keep it in mind.
                      Cheers

                      • Hey, thanks for the info. I will check them out. If I do end up crashing at the Flipper, I€™ll give a quick review. Do you have your plans locked in for January? If I am in town maybe we can grab a brew and checkout the ladies......

                          BTW the reviews for Flipper are pretty good on Agoda.
                          Cheers
