    Cheers!

I've been thinking about something like this for the next trip -- mix it up a little. I'll look into it.

    Thanks, guys.

Don't bother...I didn't check out early because I was in love with the place...You'll get blistering hot water and ice cold water but NO warm water...Not recommended...It would be very easy to correct the problem, but this is Thailand...

The place sounds like a marketer's dream if you understand the magic of statistical averaging.

You know how it works - if you have one foot in a bucket of boiling water & one foot in a bucket of ice water,

        'on average' you are comfortable...

(How hard could it be to sort the tap out? Maybe 10 minutes work unless the hot water was hooked up by "Somchai's Noodle Cart & Plumbing Services")
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

Note that's in the VCC and My View Condos.

The Yensabai Condo does not have those water problems and is in a better location.  However Yensabai Condo is not brand new like those others and is showing it's age.

(Snick @ Apr. 19 2010,04:22) I would not stay in Areca again, there are a lot of little things that annoy me about the Areca, but the lack of Free Wifi, or even paid Wifi in the rooms is a 'deal breaker'.
There was free wifi in my room in January (and also in Sept '09).

                  Pattaya hotel choices again...

my options so far are PBR (but the Standard Room is a bit shabby), Mosaik (nice place but no pool), and the LK Renaissance (a bit upscale but a good deal now at 1900 baht).

August suites looks good, but prices are still high.

                  Financials calculated on 15 nights:

                  PBR DELUXE
                  15x 1500 all inc. +7% = 24075 THB

                  PBR Standard
                  15x 799 +7% = 12824 THB

                  Mosaik deluxe appart
                  rate 8100
                  power 1000
                  water 400
                  internet 600
                  cleaning 200x4 = 800
                  bed sheets x14 = 770
                  towel x28 = 420
                  fttowel x14 = 420
                  hd_towel x28 = 280
                  end cleaning 300
                  Total 13090

                  Lk Renaissance
                  28500 all incl.

So far, I'd be going for Mosaik.

Just tried to reserve LK on their website.

They're requiring 100% "deposit" for all nights on reservation. I had to write them back to get them down to 1 night. Not pleased with that, though my last stay was nice.

I just got a mail from August Suites (I wrote them a mail with some of the rates of their competitors asking them if they want to compete).

It seems all hotels in Patts are desperate, write them and the will try to beat the other rates.

                      here is what they wrote:
Now the best rates from June- August are :
-1,300 THB/night/no breakfast for a Superior room City side on the 2nd floor.
-1,400 THB/night/no breakfast for a Superior room City side on the 3rd -5th floor.
-1,500 THB/night/no breakfast for a Superior room Pool side (not directly see the pool) on the 3rd -5th floor.
-1,800 THB/night/no breakfast for a Deluxe room (directly see the pool).

These rooms can stay max 2 persons.
If you would like to have breakfast, there is a 100THB charge/person added into the price.

Pattaya is right now the quitest I have ever seen it.

If you^re a first time visitor, book a few nights, and then look around for something better. Most hotels have plenty of vacancies.

Some exceptions are August Suites which is full because 3000 baht rackrate rooms are only 1300 baht and the PBR which has a huge following and attractive lowseason rates.

Whoa, I just tried 2 different websites to price August Suites the first week in Feb 2011 & they both came up "Unavailable". I guess that the high season may come back to a pent up demand after this bad year?
