well its not to funny because I cancelled my reservation at Marriott cause of your disinformation. I didnot need to spend all this extra time today calling the hotel from the US and cancelling and waiting on the phone etc because Marriott wouldnot cancel my reservation on their site or by phone because I made it directly through the hotel. Why would you think that is so funny? I know a lot of British guys and their sence of humor is much better than yours. I still dont know why you would think that was so funny. Now I am staying at the August Suites cause of you
Definitely... Plus the money you'll save on all the other 'incidentals' like taxis, food and drinks, etc. The Marriot is OK but has the personality of a hospital!
(deepthroat @ Apr. 19 2010,01:24) Guys, how do the August Suites, Areca Lodge and LK Renaissance stack up in a side by side comparison for:
1. Location (proximity to the action - my preferred base in the past has been PBR)
The LKR and Areca are on Soi Diana...Nearly across from one another...Very good location...Easy access to the Pattaya world of ladyboys...About a 2 minute walk from the PBR...
The August Suites is on Pattaya Klang...Not the best location in my opinion...If only because you'll have to navigate the traffic on both Pattaya Klang and 2nd Road to get around...

My list would be LKR, August Suites, some other hotel
I would not stay in Areca again, there are a lot of little things that annoy me about the Areca, but the lack of Free Wifi, or even paid Wifi in the rooms is a 'deal breaker'.
(reflections @ Apr. 18 2010,14:28) Now I am staying at the August Suites
Marriot and August Suites are of similar quality but at the same price I prefer the AS based on intangibles.
If one can get a cheaper rate at the Marriot then I'd stay there but I don't think that's the case. Most guys I've known who stayed at the Marriot were using points.
At the end of the day, think you'll be happy and save some cash.
They still don't show the bathrooms though. Best I can tell, ALL the LK Renaissance rooms include a whirpool (jacuzzi) tub. But to get a separate shower you have to do either the Deluxe or 1 Bedroom Suite.
The Studio and Superior have the tub but not a separate shower - you shower in the tub with the curtain.
The 1 bedroom suite also has a kitchen.
Making newbie mistakes since 2009 so you don't have to
Found a really nice long stay last evening with a fellow BM...An LK Group hotel named 19th Nineteen...On Soi 19 between Soi Buakhao and Pattaya 3rd Road near X-Cite Disco...10,000 baht or 11,000 baht with balcony per month...Brand new construction, large flat screen with cable, large laptop sized in-room safe, DSL, king size bed, etc...all electric and water included...No joiner fee for one or two or more...No soi dogs allowed though...038-375111 [email protected]

The monthly rate in some of these places is roughly the same as the weekly rate in a place like the PBR. Let's say you want to stay two weeks, what do they do to stop you from claiming the monthly rate upfront (thus getting a week free), and can you get around it?
A few will prorate the monthly charge...most won't...But yes, you can pay for a month and stay for 2 or 3 weeks...They don't care...They can rent it again when you leave...
At most places you pay for the first month plus a deposit...Where I stay my rent is 8000 baht plus a 5000 baht deposit I get back when I leave...
I once stayed at the VC Condo-Hotel where the rent was 12,000 baht with no deposit...I left after 3 weeks and received a refund...But don't count on it at most places...
Keep in mind that many of these places DO NOT include daily room cleaning in the charge...It's an extra...I pay 100 baht to have my room cleaned and linen changed...
For the most part the rooms are on par with the PBR standard room...The hotel across from mine, The Piyada residence, is very much like the PBR including a beautiful rooftop pool...11,000 baht per month...

Here's more info. Patrice's rentals are prorated. He has units at VCC, MyView, and Yensabai Condo, among others. A good guy to deal with.
Here's a prior post about his great deals in the Pattaya sub-forum.
