I was there in January and although there is a lot of building going on I didn't notice much noise. Maybe if you stay at the pool the whole day .........(jimslim @ Mar. 03 2008,04:11) Anyone stayed in the Areca Lodge recently ? Im thinking of trying it , but they have building work going on , just wondering how bad the noise is .Comment

just toured a bunch of pattaya hotels and here are my latest recommendations (imho & ymmv & remember these are still 'high season' prices and will be reduced for your summer pleasure, usually from mid-april onward):
best @ 700 thb/nite -- sorry, socrates made me promise not to say
best @ 1000-1200 thb/nite -- areca lodge, soi diana (but good luck getting a room unless you plan way ahead; and don't bother upgrading to the executive room since the standard and the deluxe are both much better values)
best @ 2000-2400 thb/nite -- lk renaissance, soi diana (2000thb price *only* on weekly basis, but worth it)
best @10,000 thb/nite - bam's room at the marriott
off my recommended list: AA on soi 13, rude and disappointing.
new on recommended list: sandy springs on soi 13, seemed good value & great location for you labamba/stringfellows lovers. and Tim Boutique (a high-end place on soi 14 off 2nd road, worth a look in the 2000-4000/nite range)
also recommended: LK Metropole (soi diana) and Whitehouse Condotel (Soi 13), both have a wide variety of nice rooms ranging from 1500-4000/nite (high season)-- and up! i'm sure there are also more rooms in the 700-1000/nite range, but other than keerati homestay i haven't been satisfied/comfortable in that price range in pattaya -- as opposed to samui, where i was quite content in a 900thb/nite deluxe room.
if i'm still around when 'low season' hits i'll try to do a walk-about and see how far prices fall.
also, have yet to stumble upon the LK Pavilion or LK Mansion, both a bit off the beaten track, but judging from my previous/current LK experiences, might be worth the effort. wherever you stay, enjoy.

I can recommend the LK Metropole hotel in Soi Diana. I currently stay in a Superior room (56 sqm) and I pay about 1600/night.
Staff is friendly and service ok.Back in LOS in February

OK, some guys like a flashy place. It definitly has a wow factor.(thaibound @ Mar. 04 2008,00:42) best @ 2000-2400 thb/nite -- lk renaissance, soi diana (2000thb price *only* on weekly basis, but worth it)
But after looking at it I didn't think *I'd* be any more comfotable there than at Pattaya Bay Resort.
Different strokes and so on and so on....

i'd be shocked to find a hotel on soi 13 that's not lb-friendly. but then i've been shocked before.

Hi buddy........I stayed at the Sandy Springs in 2007 for 3 weeks, and really enjoyed it. Never had one problem bringing in girls, great location, very nice pool on the 4th floor, and the price is right if your not looking for anything fancy. Enjoy your trip!(Buddy @ Apr. 03 2008,02:09) I'm going to try Sandy Springs. It's near Stringfellows and seems to be LB friendly. Hope so.Comment

I had one of the suites in Sandy Springs last September too - no problem at all bringing in the LBs and GGs. Suite was a bit OTT but they had nowt else available and it was only around 2,300 so no drama. Yes, pool is nice although the entrance and bar downstairs are a bit crap... plenty of choices down the street though!
