For those like me who want to pre-pay and book hotels before they arrive, The Dynasty Inn Grande and Dynasty are now available through Asiarooms. com

I find them to be great, and have never had a problem.

Why not just book directly with the hotel? Why involve a third party?

Asia Rooms says "from" SGD 111 ie 2448 Baht....direct with hotel is 2280

The Asia Rooms says actually SGD 128 ie 2823 Bant

I always book my room in the Majestic Grande with Asiaroom.com. It is much cheaper .Straight at the hotel is more expentive but sometimes if you are to close of your arrivaldate ,you will have too. But I tell you again they are really LBfriendly.

Never heard of it...stay at DIG on Soi 6 all the time and don't recognize the name Orchid Place....

most of the places mentioned on the thread are far above my budget (you guys are obviously in a quite different financial league than me) , can anyone recommend something reasonable in the general area near the nep or broadly near the nana bts?

I went and had a look last week at the place in Soi 1, The Golden Palace hotel - I must have been passed it a thousand times but never knew anything about it. It is like a relic from the '60's - seems to be similar to the US motel style where the room door opens onto a courtyard with a pool in the middle and you would park your car outside your room (except there is no room for a car to be parked in this version). I looked at a deluxe room for 1200 baht night and actually if you dont mind a trip back in time, the rooms are sound. Everything looked clean and well maintained - the bathroom was newly done. The telephone looked like the original version from the Titanic but otherwise it was kinda neat in a retro way. Nice enough large pool and the staff were very friendly. Doubt they have much in the way of wireless, but you have an internet shop next door.

For 1200 baht its not bad value at all and the room was pretty spacious.

I stayed recently at the Nana Mansion on Soi 4. You get sent there if you turn up at the Nana hotel and they have no rooms, which happened to me. I was charged 1200 per night, but you may get it cheaper going direct.
The rooms are reasonable for the price - clean and everything worked and there is a good restaurent..
One snag is that its about 15 mins walk down Soi 4 to NEP or Sukumvit Road. They do have a free Tuk Tuk which seemed to be available going from the hotel. Going back I usually walked but on 2 occasions I had a ladyboy and had to hire taxis, once from Guess and second from NEP.
No problem getting ladyboys into rooms providing they have ID.

Update for the Grand Business Inn - they now have changed to high speed in room internet access (by network port), wifi is available in the lobby and restaurant. Room rate has changed now the "soft opening" is over and as they have expanded now a greater range of room types.

Single Superior room       1600 Baht/night
Double Premier Room      1600 Baht/night
Premier Suite                   2000 Baht/night
Executive Double Room 2000 Baht/night
Grand Suite Room            2500 Baht/night

The higher level rooms include DVD player with Sony television, you can borrow DVDs from in house library.  If you do not have a network cable you can borrow a network cable with a refundable 100 Baht deposit.

Check the website for room photos.  No pool yet, but they are planning for a pool by end of 2007, beginning of 2008.

There is some construction noise going on as they are proceeding with their expansion - you can ask for a quieter room on booking.  

Very guest friendly (have to leave ID card at front desk), no extra joiner fees, no need to book double room and can have more than 1 guest at a time.

Ok, need to bump this post about the Grand Business Inn - I have only done a two-some one time in the past (both postops), and last night I had a fantastic time with another two postops. Very happy to report the Grand Business Inn does not charge extra for the 2nd guest (not sure if they would for a 3rd or 4th guest - hey 69Billy!), but I don't think they would as long as the IDs are all there.

Brocklanders had some photos of the rooms - very nice, probably on par with DIG - just a bit further away from Nana Plaza and Guess Bar.  Book in advance as this is a very popular place with business travelers, as well as punters.  Construction is completed so that noise is gone now.

I highly recommend this place, so if you can't get into Dynasty Inn Grande, give this place a try!
