For one night stays the Grand Inn fits the bill for me too!
I'll tip the bellman in advance and tell him to come banging on my door if I'm not in the lobby by such and such a time so I don't miss my plane.

Think the Majestic Suites costs a little more than the Grand Inn.

Just stayed at the Majestic Grande at the weekend and it was excellent. King size bed, great service and no problems at all, thoroughly recommend it and a great short cut through to Nana Plaza. My bed was hidden behind the bathroom also!

But.... anyone knows about a room in Grand Inn
1. Standard room is 1,090/night.
2. Deluxe room is 1,290/night
Compare to Majestic suites at
1. single studio 1250/night
2. superior studio 1350/night

Grand Majestic,,Sukhumvit,,Almost opposite Jw Marriot,,just down the road from Starbucks..Great 3* boutique hotel,,pretty new,,Fantastic rooms,,wireless broadband,,superior room on website 2990b but i would recomend the grand deluxe for 3990b,,its almost twice the size and on a higher floor with great views of the city,,very ladyboy friendly and the price includes a fantastic breakfast buffet for 2 people.
No joiner fee, try it you wont be dissapointed

I have been quoted 3690 baht for the grand deluxe room at the MAJESTIC GRANDE on www.directrooms.com but they ask for the additional guests name when I enqired about booking and quoted 2 adults ( for the buffet breakfast ) as it was the same price as a single.

Does this matter about giving an additional name or should I just book 1 person, and would the guest still get a breakfast

I like the Centre Point hotels, really serviced apartments. I like the one on the corner of Wireless and Pleonchit - short walk to Nana to the right and the shopping areas to the left, and all the rooms have a balcony which I like. studio and 1 BR's are usd 60 to 90. new, clean and very nice. I use this internet service and they seem to have pretty good prices and most of the hotels are listed, although must book a week in advance at least (generally). Centre Point has quite a few around bkk, stayed at the Silom one but its a bit old. Thonglo is very nice but a bit out of the way. There's a Sukhumvit location but haven't stayed there. I will spend 5 night at end of November in BKK. I will have revenue stay on 1st, 3rd and 5th night at Grand Hyatt Erawan due to Faster Free Night Promotion. I haven't decided on my 2nd and 4th nights yet.

Hua Hin Hyatt is asking for 190/night on my dates, way too much. Otherwise I may be crazy enough to commute back and forth to rack up stay credits.

Royal Meridien Plaza Athenee at Wirelss road seems pretty attractive to me at 3000 SPG points. Both their website and tripadvisor is not helping. How far away is that hotel from NEP?

Stayed at SOFITEL SILOM for 5 days, as part of a discounted tour deal with Trailfinders UK (using Etihad Airways).   Room incl vg b'fast - about 4250 baht single during October, but nearer 5500 in Nov.

Location:  Silom Road.    I was quoted 100 baht by tuktuk to Patpong - so I can confirm it is less than 10 minutes walk! (do they ever get any fares?!)

Asked a bellboy at Sofitel whether ok for guest at night - he said "No problem".                     But customer services (!)     said "yes, ok, fee is 1000 baht extra".    

In the end, decided NOT to take any LBs back. Not just cos of the ridiculous cost, but the scene in reception is pretty formal, and I dont think I or my LB friend would have been relaxed by the 'ambience'!!  (mind you, not much ambience at ST room in Nana, either)  

Hotel very smart / comfortable etc, plenty of waiing staff, 24 hours internet 650 baht.............Yes, I am looking forward to my return to Dynasty Grande Inn next week!

..Dynasty Inn on Soi 4 now has construction of a new lobby and restaurant/bar on going. Told me it would be another 2-3 months before completion. They are still open for business with nice rooms but sleeping after 8AM may be tough. Rooms 1290 baht. I booked via internet from ChiangMai so had no idea about construction. I was out before 8am so noise was not an issue. LB friendly but will take the girls ID when entering.

How about the Grand Palace? I stayed there years ago and liked it very much. Prices have gone up, about 1100 baht per night.

Any thoughts.

I stayed at the sister hotel in Hua Hin, not here.  But just spotted the bkk website 'welcome' (see below). If you replace the words 'taxi drivers' with 'ATS Members', I think you can read it as being very LB friendly!!    Not sure about their assessment of Thermae, though
