Grand President Sukhumvit soy 11, stayed there for the last 8 years when in Bkk which is twice a month on average, LB Friendly, newly renovated, only problem are the damn birds from the cages nearby, and the Tuk Tuk concerto which ends around 2 AM. close by to disco also, but no LB admited in disco, range Bht 2500 to 3750 per night, studio style

Hey guys is it normal for the Dynasty Grande to charge your credit card before even stepping foot into the country. I have reserved a room at the hotel but they have requested payment to "keep reservation". Now I know that they just wanna committ me to stayin at the place but I wanna clean my credit card before I step into LOS. I have my costings and don't want to pay before venturing into the fray! So I am asking for some advice. I have already sent a polite reply back to Dynasty Grande and have said that I would like to pay for the room once I have seen it and have stayed in it. I really need a room not too far from Nana but not too close with internet access in the room. Please guys reasure me or help me find a place. BTW I have looked at the pinned info on BKK hotels but have not found a genuine hotel between 1500 - 2300 BHT that is available and has internet connection available in room.

Asking for a nights payment to reserve to room is standard practice not just in LOS but pretty much everywhere else I have travelled. You will find that this will happen more often too when your arrival time is after about 6:00pm.

The Dynasty Grande is a nice place and good value for money. In room internet is fine.

This is very common among hotels, particularly if you are planning on arriving after 6pm or the period you are booking for is a busy one - basically they need to ensure that they are not left with an unsold room if you dont turn up. From what I understand, they dont actually charge your card, merely use it to guarantee the reservation. If you dont turn up, they are then within their rights to charge you for the night or nights you have agreed to stay. A lot of times when I stay there, I just leave an imprint of the card, and then pay cash when I check out. Also, Dynasty Grande is one of the few hotels in that price bracket NOT to charge credit card surcharges (e.g 2-3%).

It is pretty much the only hotel in that range to also feature in room FREE internet connection. Personally I think your worrying about nothing - have yet to meet someone who was dissapointed with the hotel.

Ozzie and Marhdi 100% correct.

DG will not CHARGE your card before you arrive, only if you don't show up...and quite right too. They have not requested PAYMENT, only a guarantee that you will do what you said and actually turn up

DG is best value hotel in the area imho. None of the extra surcharges that I hate eg VAT, govt tax, credit card surcharge, etc.....and fast in-room internet is free, unlike every other hotel in the area.

The only problam recently for me has been that they still sometimes have construction going on 8am to 5pm. If you are a light sleeper you might find this a problem.

I would happily pay more for this place, and I can't think of any other hotel I could say that about

ditto re Dynasty Grande.  Am staying there (3rd time) next week, and have sent them my credit card details to confirm first night late arrival.   But in absence of a secure payment link on their website, I took precaution of splitting my details between two emails.  Someone told me that was a sensible idea - who knows!

I've only stayed at the DIG: around 2250 THB, but the free internet makes it good value.   I compare DIG to the Majestic Grande, where internet access from rooms is very expensive, I think around 600 THB per day.

I've stayed at the DIG many times since May of this year...Never once have they asked for a credit card info in advance....In fact I just booked for Janaury for a week with no problem:

Dynasty Inn Soi 4 = currently MAJOR construction work in whole front wing.
They told me that the refurbished front wing rooms will be better than the back wing roomd but not as good as the DGI Soi 6

Dynasty Grande Inn Soi 6 = intermittent minor construction work to both wings, except the 2nd floor construction work did not seem minor to me on the 3rd floor last time before I made them move my room

my fourth stay with them commences in two weeks and they have not requested any advance deposit, CC or *anything* -- *very* unusual in that regard -- but they've always had my room ready and waiting.

and as for the minor construction, yeah, it can be annoying, but it's still a great value.

and the chicks dig it.

I think request to me for prior ccard was only cos of my very late arrival (ie midnight) this trip, so they had a g'tee!

Now that I think about it, I virtually always arrive after 6pm and tell them that in my initial e-mail enquiry, and I now remember that I quiried this the first time and 'guarantee for late arrival' was what they explained.

Ethernet cable in the rooms (at least I always use cable in the room, I don't think there is wirless in-room)

When some people use that (IMO demeaning) term "walk of shame", they are specifically referring to walking out of Nana Plaza, where it narrows down at the entrance with the beer bars on both sides and the seats on the rails full of farang who are watching most everyone who exits or enters NEP.  The way I look at it, if you don't have the balls to be seen walking next to a ladyboy, preferably holding her hand, you don't deserve to enjoy the pleasures of her company in the bedroom or anywhere else.

Blimey talk about chinese whispers - the 'walk of shame' refers to taking a hooker back through your hotel lobby - not walking out of Nana Plaza - dont forget everybody is there for the same thing in Nana, wheras in the hotel lobby you have no idea who is going to be there as you walk back, hence the term the 'walk of shame'.     Dont forget there are many many places to pick up a hooker in Bangkok or anywhere in Thailand.

I never noticed your response to the walk of shame comments til now. Anyway, you could be correct in that it also refers to entering the hotel lobby where one is staying, with ladyboy on your arm.  
I do know of "some" guys in previous threads and posts here over the years who have specifically described exiting Nana as the walk of shame and even make arrangements to walk a distance ahead or behind the ladyboy they were leaving with.  
I've never understood those kind of guys and they were whom I was referring to. It bothers me not in the least who sees me leaving with a ladyboy or what they think and I think most of the forum members feel the same way. It was extra cool the one time a few years ago when I barfined both Chompoo and Som from Obs and walked out of Nana with one on each side.
