I was standing on Walking St. just outside the minimart across from Blue Ice one night, waiting for Bem (LB) to come out. As soon as her foot hits Walking St, one of these clown-suited pricks grabs her arm. I gently removed his hand, said "She's with me", to which he responds "Where's your hotel?" I tell him "None of your business" and walk off.

This is what im asked for! Thank-you  So we have some 1st hand evidence that there must be some unofficial LB deterrent program going on.

In any other country, what that guy did to the LB would be assault.. but i guess this is LOS.


But like the article said - they have been there since 1994 - 15 years - only now do we hear the foul cries.

Police often target areas of crime - unfortunately the target may just well be ladyboy prostitution. Such is life and get over it.
There are plenty of bars to find your victims.

One day, I might be unfortunate enough to read a more pathetic concentration of ostentatious stupidity, but then again maybe not.

It's not often I see so many examples of foolishness and delusion crammed into such a short space that if I leave out your contribution, please excuse me.

First of all, a number of writers have condemned the off duty volunteer policeman on the basis of his looks. He must be in the wrong because he's ugly seems to be the gist of things. I'll grant you he's ugly, but that has absolutely nothing to do with him doing his job. Furthermore, I've yet to see a picture of a handsome forum member, nor do I have any wish to. You're an ugly bunch of gits, and I freely admit I'm no better looking than most of the people I'm addressing. So what?

Next, I don't know man at the centre of all this vitriol. I've never met him.

I've never been attacked in any sense of the word in Pattaya. Come to think of it, I've never been the victim of any crime involving LBs unless you count finding my wallet has money missing after a ST on a couple of occasions over the years. That happens to us all.

The LBs were on the beach road late at night. Of all the places in Pattaya, if not the whole of Thailand, this is where you are most likely to be robbed by LB streetwalkers. You don't have to be a past victim to be aware of this. I'm willing to bet the LBs in question have criminal records.

The LBs have their account of what happened. The off duty volunteer policeman has his. I have no hesitation in believing the LBs were in the wrong.

It seems the incident took place around 2.30 am and some of the more "challenged" prats among you - yes Stogie, that means you - wonder how come the off duty policeman had some police-issued equipment with him. Could it be that his shift had finished at 2am and he was on his way home? And naturally, you take your police-issued equipment with you, rather than leaving it at the booth on Walking Street.

The man was riding a motorcycle, not wandering the streets. I suppose it's remotely possible he was drunk or high, but to state he must have been because he intervened in a violent incident between LB streetwalkers, at least one Thai girl and a tourist is way beyond mere stupidity. For what its worth, that could easily be construed as libel.

That pic of Adolf was a nice touch. It rounded off your collective opinions as eloquently as could be expected.

You need to learn to read...

1.  Their shift ends at 3 am...That is the hour when they reopen Walking Street...That is confirmed by the copy cop's reply...

2.  I see no mention of a motorbike, but if he was riding one, he was on his way to Walking Street not away from Walking Street...Beach Road is a one-way street leading to Walking Street and Pattaya Tai not away from Walking Street...

3.  The article clearly states that he was in civilian clothes and when summoned by the police he returned in his uniform...With a gaggle of his friends I might add...

It might be safer to conclude that he was not on duty that evening, but just wandering around with a can of pepper spray in his pocket looking for some reason to use it...And as luck would have it, he found some ladyboys...

I have no doubts that the LB are correct in this report, do you really think they would go to a police station to make a complaint otherwise ?

I will say it again, foreign volunteers should be well dressed, and their to give out advice and act as mediators between Thai police and tourists.

They should not be dressed as paramilitaries, blocking the entrance to walking street with a police van, and strutting around town with pepper spray.

I find this thread a fitting allegory for the world we live in. The same incident seen through different eyes results in vastly different opinions.

While I accept some of the critics have been over the top with their portrayal of Mr Harrison's behaviour, does not jonstroud find it odd that he is so completely out of step with the majority of views held by the BMs here?

He alone has cast the ladyboys as the baddies with no more evidence than that a volunteer saw fit to pepper spray them.

The streetwalkers are nearly all diseased, crazy, thieves or a combination of the three.

Just how our fairness can be questioned when this is the view held by someone who condemns us  for daring to defend the girls.

An off duty volunteer policeman maces some freelancers on Beach Road who are almost certainly going to rob an unsuspecting tourist when they get him alone in an hotel and are causing a disturbance in public that was about to turn into a mass brawl.

A couple of conclusions here are just outrageous. At least you used the word "almost" but our views are all after the event, the one that matters was that of Mr Harrison. It was he who chose to pepperspray the girls.

I don't know how we can conclude that this was about to turn into a mass brawl but looking at the video, the girls appear to be well dressed & don't have the drug crazed look of the skanks who lurk in the shadows looking for a victim.

Yes Jon, I know the type you are referring to & I find it strange to be defending ALL Pattaya LBs. I'm not, I can only go on what I see & such a united defense being argued by the girls on the video is not the behaviour of druggies.

There are enough bars in Pattaya for hookers to either work in or hang out.

There are plenty of bars but there aren't enough customers & many of the girls wandering Beach Road are from our favourite bars. I know some walk for hours in the hope of a customer, I can tell you they deserve better than a shot of pepperspray in the face.

This is just silly, I know I mentioned his "greasy hair & gum chewing" when summing him up as an unsympathetic character. There was no suggestion that confirmed his guilt or his attractiveness. The only indicator of his guilt or otherwise is his behaviour at the police station where he can be seen approaching anyone who will listen to him.

No doubt we will interpret that according to our own bias.

But for an example of bias that is unhelpful this one is hard to beat:

He wasn't on his way home after finishing his shift, there is reference to him going home to change into his uniform after this happened, no doubt to justify why he would be carrying pepperspray around with him.

That does Mr Harrison no favours at all, rather than complain about how foolish & delusional the BM's posts are on this thread, what defence do you propose for the foolish & delusional behaviour of Mr Harrison?

He sounds like a self appointed guardian of public morals, someone with vigilantly fantasies fighting evil with swiftly delivered justice from his canister of pepperspray. This is nothing short of sociopathic behaviour, booze & drugs don't create this type of personality, they merely exacerbate it.

And a comment on the picture of Adolf Hitler, please remember that the forum thrives on controversy, & that pic was Stogies way of livening up a thread rich with possiblities.

I accept that most of the Volunteers are guys without such pretensions but I will not accept that all ladyboys are thieving, brawling druggies out to scam everyone they can.
