(Boarhog @ Mar. 22 2009,00:57) I'm no stranger to the whining Michigan fan. Playing the ref's card. not even original these lean days. The Illini are at home watching the tourney just like Michigan now. I know they suck and you won't hear me talking about their womens volleyball program.
Michigan fan talking about hockey? Thats when you know the football program is really struggling. Its good that you were fulfilled by a .500 conference season. I guess those 2 wins over Duke made it complete for you. It couldn't have been finishing 6th behind Illinois in the mighty Big 10!
and once your complete lack of college athletics is pretty predictable........the Michigan college hockey program like the Michigan college football program sets the benchmark in wins, winning percentage and national championships and is actually considered the # 2 most followed program by fans of the schools athletics. Also Michigan "split" with Duke and didn't beat them twice......so I would suggest that "bone" up on your facts before you try and bring it so to speak. Don't try and run with the big dogs with 3 legs.
It's good to King........no matter what the pay
Courage is being scared to death__and saddling up anyway
Billy Jaffe, Radio Voice of the Thrashers:
”I have absolutely No problem with Ohio State. It has a beautiful campus, and for a Junior College it has really great Academics.”
"Gentlemen and ladies, 'Those Who Stay Will Be Champions' is for you too. It's for every Michigan fan that's out there. When the going gets tough, you don't cut and run. It's not the Michigan way. If I heard it once from the old man, I heard it a thousand times -- when the going gets tough you find out who your real friends are, and that's why we must stay. Because there will be championships, and this staff and these kids will bring those championships here."

Muck Fichigan.
Congrats on winning your 1st Tournament game in 11 years.
Now you can feel like the program is resurrected and light up another bong and look down on those schools that aren't as socially competitive.
You be true to your school mate, like you would to your girl and just keep living in the past. Michigan fans are the most knowledgable and athletic. If you don't believe it just ask them, but they will surely tell you before you get that chance.

(SamplerDoc @ Mar. 23 2009,02:56) Sweet 16 will all be sorted out today
Xavier sent home another Big 10 team earning a date with East region top seed Pittsburgh.
Michigan State and Purdue who finished the regular season 1, 2 in the conference are only Big 10 teams to advance to sweet 16.Attached Files

My premise on "upsets" continue. There have been a small smattering of upsets but a little birdie who knows told me that the favorites arent covering very much so thats good for the "house".
It is big news that the Big East has 5 in the Sweet 16. There were some compelling endings yesterday but no big upsets.
Now it seems to be remembered a lot more 1's and 2's going out the first two rounds in "the old days". Have a look at the seedings:
In the East region and South 1-2-3-4 have gone thru. In the West 1-2-3-5 have gone thru and in the Midwest 1-2-3-12 keep playing. Now thats pretty much going to form. There are some GREAT match ups this week.Be careful out there!

the ACC melt-down -- 7 went in, only 2 came out -- pretty much destroyed my chances in this pool, though i'd still be thrilled to see unc and duke meet in the final four.
then again, compared to the pac-10, i guess the acc only sucked a little bit and with ty lawson bringing his fat toe back on the court unc may yet take it all. meanwhile the big east proved their depth wasn't an illusion, resulting in the most true-to-form sweet 16 in recent memory.
but...is there any chance the elite 8 will be all 1's and 2's and the final four all 1-seeds?
no.

Pac 10 usually carries no expectations besides UCLA and Arizona in past years. Arizona is now considered a cinderella story if there is one. Preseason they were ranked 43rd in the country. Came in the tourney as a 12 seed and are now in sweet 16 playing the tourneys top seed Louisville.
ACC still has a major force with UNC left, and Duke. I think dukes road to Motown ends against the Big Easts Villanova, who I have going to final 4. They may have to go through another Big East team, Pittsburgh if they can beat Duke.
Connecticut is getting the least respect of Big East teams mostly because many see Memphis beating them, and if it wasn't for a weak conference schedule Memphis would have been a number 1. The Big East has been the dominant conference all year, teams like Syracuse will benefit playing such a tough conference schedule when they go up against Oklahoma in the sweet 16.
Some don't like it when there arent a lot of upsets, but I would rather see the best teams advancing and playing closer to form.Attached Files

Coach K (aka Rat face) will have their biggest test of the tourney when they run up against Villanova in Boston. The Blue Devils only lost one game out of the ACC, but ran into to trouble late in the season against ACC teams. If Duke wins, Gerald Henderson will be the difference, but I see Villanova's perimeter game being to much for them. I'm projecting a Big East showdown with Pittsburgh who will have to get by a 4th seed Xavier. Pittsburgh has never beaten any team seeded higher than 6th.
Games should be tight this weekend with all theese higher seeds advancing. Only see 2 potential blowouts in UNC v. Gonzaga and Louisville v. 12th seed Arizona.Attached Files

and then there was one. Just one big ten team left after UCON mopped up Purdue. They were 1 of two Big East number 1 seeds to advnce to the elite 8. Pittsburgh survived a scare against Xavier who controlled the whole game until Lavance Fields hit a huge 3 then followed it with a steal that led to an easy layup. This was with about a minute to play. Pttis 1st time to elite 8 since the tournament expanded to 64 teams.
Villanova completed a day of Big East domination as they contained Dukes Gerald Henderson and lit it up in the second half. The Wildcats were 4th in the Big East and a 3 seed in the East region where they took down the #2 seed Duke 77-54.
Louisville and Syracuse taking the main stage tommorrow for the Big East.
Mizzou showed the #2 Memphis Tigers who was top cat when they went triple digits in a 102-92 victory for the Tigers of Missouri. Big 12 representing well with that win and Kansas and Oklahoma going tommorrow.Attached Files

Missouri who were beat by 16 points against Illinois earlier in the season went 31-6 and 3rd place in Big 12.
Freshman Marcus Denman swished one from three-quarters court at the halftime buzzer to put Missouri up by 13. That capped a 27-7 run.
Memphis loss snapped a 27 game winning streak.Attached Files

Villanova beat duke for the first time in over 50 years. The win also marked their 14th win over higher seeded opponants, the most in tournament history. The Wildcats are also the lowest seed ever to win a tournament doing it as the 8 seed in 1985.
Duke shot a season-low 26.7 percent from the floor against Nova who will take on Pittsbugh a 1 seed.
Villanova beat Pitt in Big east play by 10 points in their only meeting.
