Some fo the big conference bubble teams have been ousted from the NIT tourney by smaller conference teams. Big 10 Northwestern was eliminated by Tulsa while Baylor beat the Big Easts perrenial power Georgetown.

Some experts are predicting Michigan to beat Oklahoma in 2nd game. I think Clemson with handle Michigan in the big dance. Michigan just finished ahead of Northwestern in the big Ten with 20-13 overall record.

With Frazier out for the 5 seed Illini, sophmore Jeff Jordan could see a lot more action. The son of Michael Jordan is average 1 point a game in limited action.

Jordan top photo, Illini player in practice photo #2 and Western Kentuckys biggest threat Slaughter #3.

Several experts are projecting W. Kentucky to be the upset special pick in the 1st round.

In this Dec. 3, 2008 file photo, Ford Field in Detroit is seen during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game between North Carolina and Michigan State. The road to the Final Four ends in the Motor City, where the NCAA will start a new tradition by putting a basketball court in the middle of a football field

North Carolina blew out Michigan State 98-63. If they meet again in this tourney it would be in the Championship game at this same venue.

The Tarheels look strong heading in only losing 4 games and were in all of those until the buzzer except a 7 point loss to BC

Uh, oh, hope we don't get embarassed again by a guy from across the pond. He called the Steelers right early in the season.

And these guys destroyed us in the football pool two years ago.

                    Thanks PigDogg,
Just listening to my Illini follow through as an upset special, as they are getting ripped by Western Kentucky.

Taking UNC to win it all! I need Villanova to go as my lower seed pick. Memphis my pick from last season will fall short.

                    Villanova

"Gentlemen and ladies, 'Those Who Stay Will Be Champions' is for you too. It's for every Michigan fan that's out there. When the going gets tough, you don't cut and run. It's not the Michigan way. If I heard it once from the old man, I heard it a thousand times -- when the going gets tough you find out who your real friends are, and that's why we must stay. Because there will be championships, and this staff and these kids will bring those championships here."

Those experts were right as Western Kentucky (12)hammered the Illini (5). It was the biggest upset on day 1.

The Big 10's Minnesota lost to Texas, while Michigan and Purdue advanced with narrow victories.

Look for Michigan St and Ohio State to win tommorrow while Wisconson becomes the 3rd Big 10 team to exit when they run into giant killers Florida State.

In one eastern office pool with over 400 entries, there were only 2 people picking Kansas to go all the way and only 3 on Missouri.

Just an example of how the top teams get overplayed in most pools.

                            Yes smutty,
Enjoy the win because Saturday the party is over for the Wolverines as they join the other Big 10 failures.
Oklahoma is awesome and have a future NBA player in Blake Griffen.

Their bench will look like Clemsons bench in this bottom picture in the final 4 minutes.

Any predictions on the 1st number one seed to fall?
                            Connecticut is my call.

More people on Memphis than UConn despite the eastern bias of the above pool. No love for the Huskies.

12 seeds keep the upsets coming. A day after Big Ten Illinois lost to W. Kentucky, another big 10 team (Wisconson) took down a 5 seed in Florida State. Wisconson trailed the Seminoles by 12 at half and came back to send the game to OT. Wisconson joined Purdue Michigan and Michigan State as one of 4 Big 10 tems advancing. MSU will take on USC a 10 seed who beat a 7 seed Boston College.

Tiny Sienna burnt Ohio State in double overtime to win a date with top seed Louisville.

Arizona was the other 12 seed to advance by knocking out #Utah. They play another upset winner Cleveland State a 13 seed who demolished 4th seeded Wakeforest.
