I don't feel UConn is anywhere near as good as UNC. The fact that UM gave them a pretty good scare up til the last 2 minutes of the game says either a lot for UM or a lot for UConn. The Big East conference isn't as tough they would have you believe.

I think even if UConn ended up playing UNC, UNC would make even the Huskies look bad. The only thing I'm worried about with MSU playing in Detroit this weekend is the preasure to perform well before the home-state crowd. Some say it's a "home-field" advantage. But I think MSU's record is better at The Palace than Ford Field.

Anyway, I'll probably wait til half-time to turn on the game. I'm just superstitious enough to believe that I curse them just by watching them sometimes.
It's been a rough day. I got up this morning ... put a shirt on and a button fell off. I picked up my briefcase, and the handle came off. I'm afraid to go to the bathroom.

We've got our work cut out for us. UNC is making it look easy (again) against Villanova.

Sparta leads way for Big 10 as State drops UCONN. Michigan State playing in front of a home crowd at Ford Field advanced to the championship game with 82-73 win.

North Carolina is up 10 on Villanova in 2nd half action. If Tarheels win it will set up a rematch between them and MSU when they met at Ford Field on Dec 3rd. Then ranked number 1, Carolina routed the Spartans 98- 63 when they were ranked 13. 25,000 saw the game in the basketball configurated stadium. Tonights attendance was 72,000 the largest crowd to watch a final four game. Hansbrough put up 25 points and will need to be contained if MSU hopes to upset the Tarheels.

(Boarhog @ Mar. 19 2009,19:16) In this Dec. 3, 2008 file photo, Ford Field in Detroit is seen during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game between North Carolina and Michigan State. The road to the Final Four ends in the Motor City, where the NCAA will start a new tradition by putting a basketball court in the middle of a football field

North Carolina blew out Michigan State 98-63. If they meet again in this tourney it would be in the Championship game at this same venue.

The Tarheels look strong heading in only losing 4 games and were in all of those until the buzzer except a 7 point loss to BC
It happened. Same teams, same venue, and about 50,000 more fans will watch it live.

N.C. looks to be too much for the Michigan State Spartans. Hopefully its a better game than their first meeting in December.

anybody keeping track of how many of us picked the tarheels? did *anybody* pick the spartans? did somebody already win our little 'tourney' by amassing bonus 'seed' points? or could nailing the total score in the final game still bring home the bacon? i know i could look it up myself, but i'm way to fracking lazy to do that.

            nice photos/interesting commentary boarhog, tigerxx,smuttley

just for shits, i'll predict the tarheels will be up 18 points early in the second half... but up less than 8 with under 5 minutes to play... and then....

            need i say it?
            go heels.

Naturally I'd be happy to see my Spartans win, but I don't expect them to. UNC looks like a  juggernaut to me. It's been a nice ride and I've enjoyed the fact that the Spartans have gotten this far.

In one of my ESPN brackets I picked them to win it all just because... well you gotta pick your alma mater, right!!? That goes w/o saying. But in one of my other brackets I picked UNC. So they've actually gotten farther than I expected. I had picked them to get knocked off by Kansas in the bracket where I picked UNC.

So, they may not win tonight but I'm very pleased that they made it this far.

(I almost wish I had called Vegas and put $50 down on MSU just for the hell of it. I love to root for the underdog)

(SamplerDoc @ Mar. 22 2009,07:06) Go Nova and  Memphis

Let me remind you Doc that you never even got your picks in to play. As noted here, this was your call after the tourney started. Then when the final four was set, you posted:

                  Go Nova
                  Go NC

Now this recent post with the booyah. Did I miss something?

After saying you were in, you never got your picks and now you act like you made the call? I have one question mate. Do you have a head injury?

Not bad for a guy smuttleydfs claimed was new to this. Looking forward to competing against him next season, only wish I could take some money from that Michigan fan.

Thanks for organising the March Madness pool Piggdog enjoyed following the tournament. I look forward to defending my little title next year and look forward to Sampler Doc actually entering.

                        • Well, perhaps next year someone can organize something that works online. One year it was just me and Smuttley, this year I was the only one who signed up for the whole magilla withe 64 (65) teams.

Its hard to get a commitment from people when their is no money involved. There are some good online one's, but you have to go to the trouble of registering on the likes, of yahoo, CBS, ESPN, etc.

I would go to the trouble myself. You also have a chance to win that prize they offer if you win the global pool. BTW where is my Ladyboy forums Championship Plaque? I guess it would cost to much to send to Australia, so you can send it to smuttleydrfs an he can hang it in his basement. He can tell his socially superior mates he won during a bong session.

                            • i entered the cbs pool and when the tarheels made it thru the final four i moved up from 500,090th place to somewhere in the top 250,000.

                              but i don't think i won anything.

When the going gets tough, you don't cut and run. It's not the Michigan way. If I heard it once from the old man, I heard it a thousand times -- when the going gets tough you find out who your real friends are, and that's why we must stay. Because there will be championships, and this staff and these kids will bring those championships here."
