the guys that "overpay" are usually "newbies" and/or the guys that think they have found love. simple as that. by "overpaying" in thailand you wont get better service as you sometimes will in "our" countries .. where you can buy a fake smile on the pros' faces by throwing money at them. there are however ladies in thailand that has adopted this too of course, but being a nice guy and funny will give you good service in thailand. the more money you throw around, the bigger is the risk being scammed.

Thailand has unique stregnths vis a vis China and India.
Though the LOS can't compete with China in manufaturing or India with business outsourcing the macro trend for Thailand includes:

1) Tourism
2) Medical Tourism
3) Retirement Location (health care is key here)

As Tomcat says as the LOS gets more and more popular prices will go up but it'll still be a great deal.

But currently the supply of beautiful ladyboys far outstrips demand.  Most girls in Cascade will go home without a customer.

Unlike some of you guys who go to Thailand just to "fuck" the girls...I don't...In fact I've never "fucked" one of them...

We all have different budgets. So here's some ideas for those who aren't flush with cash.

1) go to Pattaya. Yes, it's not a beach vacation like Samui or Phuket and it's not a world class city like Bangkok. But if the main reason for your trip is sex and you're on a tight budget you'll get more bang for the bucj there as anywhere else. And you can get great hotel rooms for 1000 baht a night. I usually stay in a room that costs 600 baht a night and quite happy (though I'm willing to spend 4500 on Ko Samet).

2) get frequent flyer miles without flying. Here's some tips for USA guys in United's Mileage Plus program. You can probably get 20,000 FF miles for geting a credit card that has a 60 buck annual fee the first year and free afterward, You also get 2 miles for every dollar spent

You can open an online account with Netbank and get around 10K FF miles.

You can open an account with Fidelity and get up to 25K FF miles. You can also get miles for opening an Amertrade account.

In other words you can fly for FREE on your first trip. And you can fly to Bali on the sam etrip as the LOS without using up any additional miles.
