The low season rate which ends next week was an extreme bargain. Given the seventh night free and two free breakfasts, it's true cost was about the same as the cheap charlie hotels but of much higher quality.
At the high season rate it's still a good deal, but not the compelling bargain of low season.
But good intangibles here such as the friendly desk staff and a great owner.

since my last trip after billy sugested i choose sunshine at soi 8.inside the action.
Just got booked into the PBR for my stay in Patts.
Didnt like the online booking too much. Had to fill in an online form which didnt tell me wether a deluxe room i am going for was in fact available, nor did the website say anything about availability. I had to wait for an e-mail to receive confirmation. E-mail was professional and personal though, which was great, and received within hours. Booked a month in advance so no problem with availability. Good thing is that you dont have to give your cc details. Response was swift and professional.
Stayed there my last to trips and booked again in January. Nice rooms at a nice price. A fridge in the room with only bottled water. You'll need to stock it if you are into late night snacks.
Yes, but you have no mini bar rip off. And it is no big deal to stock the fridge with your favourite drinks and your favourite snacks - the big Villa Supermarket is located in The Avenue Mall, just a few meters from the hotel.

That's another good thing about the PBR. Yup you can stock up at Villa Market or the 7/11 on Soi Buckhow.
An empty fridge is a very customer friendly policy.
As I'm just finishing a pleasant 2 week stay in the Presidential Suite (room 701) I thought I'd drop a quick review.
First, my only complaint: After I booked in July 2008 I inquired if the special "1 night free with each 6 paid" would be offered in order to entice me to stay 2 weeks. I received an email dated July 7 from Boem (general manager) stating "Yes, we offer a weekly special, for every six nights paid you get one night free. It also applies to your existing reservation. Please advice if you wish us to change your dates." I did change the dates but only moments ago, when i tried to settle my bill in advance of leaving tomorrow morning I was told that this was not in effect during high season. I even showed Kim (the American that oversees everything) the copies of my emails and he still said he would have to "check with Boem and we'll let you know in the morning - if we said, we'll honor it." I was pissed, as what that means is "if you're not lying to me and if you didn't make up this email chain that you're showing me, then we'll honor it." I even went down a second time to tell Kim I wasn't comfortable waiting until the next morning - what more proof did he need to know that his people had given me a firm commitment of a 7th night free?
Kim just called a moment ago and was very pleasant (as always) and confirmed that yes, the offer was made and will be honored. I'm still a bit pissed off though that my word and my paper copies weren't enough to have convinced him. If having proof in the form of printed emails from a hotel employee hadn't been good enough, what would have been?
It was an unpleasant way to end what had been (up to checkout) a very pleasant stay. My thoughts:
1. The girls are checkout are usually very pleasant and a couple are fricking gorgeous.
2. The Presidential Suite was awesome and a great deal at 3300 baht, even without the 7th night free (it was the principal of the matter that had me so annoyed).
3. Kim was very attentive and immediately repaired the printer in the room (out of ink) and even replaced the espresso machine that wasn't working.
4. The hotel is in a great location - very quiet, but very close to the action. I'm still stunned to read the comments of guys that had the hotel tuk-tuk pick them up, instead of walking all of 2 minutes to 2nd road. If you're that fucking fat and/or lazy why even leave your living room in the first place?
Think that's about it. OH - the maid was awesome and earned a 20 baht + pocket change tip every morning, and even invited me to accompany her and her family to Jomtien beach on her Sunday day off after I expressed interest in going to Jomtien. (I turned down her kind offer and went alone on Saturday).

I'm not fat or lazy. I walked to 2nd road many times as you suggest, but there were a few times the tuk-tuk worked out great to get me close to Walking Street or Soi Bukow especially when it is very hot and humid there. But for the trip back late at night after I've had a few to many Singha, it is just easier to grab a motorbike taxi.
