(daveduke007 @ Jul. 29 2010,18:12) But as long as Bernie is in charge of Pars Place (opposite the LK Pavillion) that will be the choice for me from now on, superb value @ 700 baht per night
davey, me boy, could you expand a bit on the Pavilion? at 1/3 the price of LKR i presume it's lacking something, but what? the website is sorely lacking in photos and details, so:
is the bath fully equipped? good-sized shower? hand-held bidet?
    is there an in-room safe?
fewer bedbugs than the PH? (sorry Pman, couldn't resist   )
the walk didn't get to you after awhile? or should i say, get to the mrs. walking in her high heels?
    and...
    what is Pars Place?
pool hall? bangers and mash? secret lb lair?
    thnx.
This is Pars Place  mon ami

As for the LK Pavillion, nothing wrong at all with it and @ 1200 baht per night is good value.
You should get a decent monthly rate + elec/water per month if you ask

It has all the things you mention like douche, good sized shower, in room safe, microwave , kettle, toaster etc and has a very good balcony.

Below pic in the kitchen area of the LK Pavillion with a companion I had for a few days
    Thanks DaveDuke,

I just booked my room on your recommendation.
I hope your companion comes with the room; if not
where to find her would be helpful.

            • how about the Mantra Pura, part of the LK group in pattaya:

              http://www.lkpattaya.com/index1.php?...ntraPuraResort

it looks fantastic and there's a sale on now, as in most of pattaya, with rooms marked down about 40% -- but has *no one* here stayed there? i've searched yet found nothing. so i don't even know if it's LB friendly, much less how it compares to other LK properties.

              any help, appreciated.

              • Get a motorbike...Unless that is you like to spend your time at either the bus station or Tesco-Lotus...

There is not much in regular songthaew action on either Pattaya Nua or Third Road...Think you're gonna need a motorbike to get around...

that's all i need to know to remove it from my list, motorbikes being one of my very few no-no's in the LOS.
                  thanks, kahuna.

Stayed there once, rooms were nice and place quiet, no problems bringing guest back.  OK place to stay if you can get a decent discount from their rack rates.

just on the "LB-friendly" question in pattaya, in case there's no "list" yet, one can start with the hotels at which i've stayed and never had any issues regarding the gender of my guest/joiner. in descending order of over-all personal preference they are:
LK Renaissance, LK Metropole, Whitehouse Condotel, Areca (pre-Evergreen), Sunshine Residence, Pattaya Bay Resort, Penthouse, Keerati Inn, Dynasty Inn and Nova Lodge.

other hotels at which i've not stayed, but which i know to be LB-friendly include: LK Mansion, LK Royal Suites, Imperial House, August Suites, Mosaik (although i think they prefer boys), Dynasty Resort, and Lek Hotel. i am certain there are many more because the list of pattaya hotels where i have had a problem would be: none.

although one hotel on soi 13 --where i looked at their rooms, but never stayed -- did tell me the sign in their lobby banning 'homosexuals' did include ladyboys. (i think that was the Golden Crab, but forgive me if i have the name wrong).

bottom line, with that many accommodations from which to choose, finding an LB-friendly hotel in pattaya is not much of a concern.

                        • Since you're an LK guy perhaps u should check out LK Pavilion.

Some have gotten rooms there for as low as 17K a month or suites for 30K a month.

                          • curious about the LK Pavilion, as it's no longer on the main LK-group website:

                            http://www.lkpattaya.com/

it does look to be a great value, but since i'm a no-motorbike guy, that inland location concerns me. fact is, on my walk-in-walkabout on my last trip, i couldn't even find the place.

Why is that? Ive bumped into you a couple of times "stalking" the streets

But saying that maybe I was too

                              • The location of LK Pavillion is OK as long as u don\t mind crossing 3rd Road.

R-Con is a better location with a good monthly rate but no pool at RCon.
