Stayed at the new Evergreen wing of Areca during my last stay and prefer it over LKR. As mentioned above the breakfast at Areca is very good and the pools are a nice to hang out during the day, always some local talent hanging around. I still have a problem with the lack of a proper shower at LKR unless you get one of the premium rooms. The easiest way to get from/to the Evergreen wing is to go thru the Avenue mall like you would if staying at PBR.

hey topdog, just looking at the photos of the new evergreen wing, it looks like their 'superior' room has the same tub-w/no-shower problem as LKR's basic rooms and there's no photo of the 'super-deluxe' bathroom on their website. can you clue me in on the shower status there? thnx

(daveduke007 @ Jul. 29 2010,18:12) But as long as Bernie is in charge of Pars Place (opposite the LK Pavillion) that will be the choice for me from now on, superb value @ 700 baht per night
is the bath fully equipped? good-sized shower? hand-held bidet?
is there an in-room safe?
fewer bedbugs than the PH? (sorry Pman, couldn't resist )
the walk didn't get to you after awhile? or should i say, get to the mrs. walking in her high heels?
and...
what is Pars Place?
pool hall? bangers and mash? secret lb lair?
thnx.

This just got me thinking... What we need on here is a detailed side-by-side comparison of the top 7-10 LB friendly hotels in Patts, with detailed photos and prices.
There's not much to do during thrpe day anyway so unless someone else commits, maybe I'll make that a project for my stay jan/feb 2011.Making newbie mistakes since 2009 so you don't have to

When I was staying at the LKR I did a tour of the Everygreen rooms at Areca. I thought they were impressive for the price and certainly more interesting than the room I had at the LKR. However I do not recall if they had a shower/tub combo.
I think I will book a few nights there in September and try it out.

As for the LK Pavillion, nothing wrong at all with it and @ 1200 baht per night is good value.
You should get a decent monthly rate + elec/water per month if you ask
It has all the things you mention like douche, good sized shower, in room safe, microwave , kettle, toaster etc and has a very good balcony.
Below pic in the kitchen area of the LK Pavillion with a companion I had for a few daysAttached FilesYour got yer Mother in a whirl

thanks, topdog.
at that price it sounds like a good deal, but their website says 1700/nite. i sent a pm asking for a weekly rate, but no reply. yet. it's probably like most hotels in pattaya, where the best rate isn't the 'internet' rate, it's the one you get walking in off the street -- withOUT baggage. especially in august when you're probably walking in out of the rain into an empty lobby.
