(Snick @ Sep. 11 2009,05:33) I think you just named the top 3 p4p unfriendly hotels, Amari and Hardrock have 1000 baht joiner fees. I think Montien has too.

    Thanks Snick

I feared as much..  Back to ST then if I'm sent down on assignment... On the bright side, bringing two lovelies on ST suddenly feels like a bargain

definitely the penthouse...it is really the coolest joint even if it does get on you after a couple of days....every room is different so go there, have a booking, you can do it online, and then ask to see what rooms are available. take the time and check it out and pick the one that suits you. its not the cheapest place but its spot on and worth it. I also find it really clean and well managed with the owner (and his mom) right there. And its got lb bar obessions downstairs and is right near walking street and all you need. prices can range from US $40 - $120 depending on room style. Ask for extra towels, no charge. bring your ipod and you can pump your tunes through their tv system.

            Ooops...
Looking very good, indeed. I guess it is the penthouse on the photos.
I am now having a look at their web site ( www.mosaikpattaya.com  ).
I like all paintings, and fresh colors. It s a feast for the eyes. The external view of the staircase at night can make your "walk of shame" a bit longer, but how beautiful it is!!...
The price is very fair either! A week in a "1 bedroom suite deluxe" would cost about 1000b/day (I see there are additionnal charges though)
            ...
Juri, if you go there, tell us what/where/how/etc.!
a froggy, lost in translation and in Africa... and no, I am not the one on the pic swinging a club ... I am the one holding the pin !!!

...yes, i will go for sure, in my time (18/10 until 02/12 6week's) the "1-bedroom de-luxe" is aviable......for a price down under the 1.000b/day there will only 5,5b/unit elec. and a water fee added.....

so i booked already, and just wait the "confirmed" status from mosaik.....

(DietPoop @ Sep. 10 2009,19:58) ...I can strongly recommend Pattaya Bay Resort, nice staff, good food and no problem bringing ladyboys to the room..

                Cheers
I heard that they were installing a (much-needed) second elevator in the building - I would check that work has finished before booking.

                  why?

construction doesn't take place at night and the single elevator, while not ideal, still does the job

Construction is 'limited' to between 10 am and 7 pm - if you value a lie-in or afternoon siesta (and who doesn't when on holiday ?), you are seriously out of luck. I'm not a big fan of holidays on building sites...I guess others are more forgiving !

Regarding LK Renaissance, is the place quiet- as in noise from thin walls or hallways or building construction? I'm a light sleeper and would like to find another hotel beyond Sandy Spring.

Stayed there during my last trip and no problems with noise.  If I had one complaint it would be the shower, or lack of a real one.  There is a hand held shower head build into the jacuzzi tub but there is no shower curtain and it gets real messy to use, water goes all over the bathroom.  Would be a simple fix to add a mount to the wall to hold the shower head and add a shower curtain.

The Renaissance is a nice place. The rooms are big, quiet & when I was last there, in good repair.

The shower problem described by TopDog above only applies to the cheapest room they offer. There is an A & a B option available for regular rooms.

The standard room has a tub & a hand held shower, the same room with a walk-in shower was another 500 baht per night on their rack rate.

I am sure the owners would now be regretting their decision to not make all rooms with shower. A room with out a proper shower gets tiresome over a long stay & I witnessed arguments from guests demanding to be moved.

Check Agoda for rates, plus the Renaissance management proved to be very negotiable when asked. When you see their cheapest room listed on Agoda, you can be sure it is for a non-shower room.

Try sending the Hotel Manager an email for a direct deal., however, with high season arriving, a deal for the better room may be a problem.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

(guydesavoy @ Jun. 10 2009,16:03) Just spent 2 days at Areca Lodge...nice. No wi-fi in room though....
They now have free wifi in the rooms (not a very strong signal, but it did work).
