especially interesting is the intersections when you have the traffic divided up like this. These are some of the things that boggles the mind on the first trip to Bangkok.Attached Files

In 1970 Sukhumvit was 4 lanes undivided as traffic came in in the morning they would take 3 lanes coming in and leave one lane out.
The reverse would happen in the afternoon on ocassion if traffic became to heavy cars and motorbikes would take the sidewalk as well. All this observed from the Miami Hotel. As they like to say, in the good old days.

Don't know about eveyone else but the photo's of traffic on Sukhumvit reminds me more about Bangkok than any of the photo's of the girls does. Looking at the pictures instantly reminds me of the heat, the smell, the dodgy tailors, the food stalls, the knowledge that there are going to be large amounts of ladyboys round that you can have and you can live the rockstar lifestyle, well at least for your holiday.
Cheers, for the pictures Bam, really bought back some great memories.Beer Baron

Bam what you showed is 5 lanes westbound, 1 lanes eastbound and that is how it runs WEST of Soi Nana (3). But on the Eastern side of that intersection it is 4 lanes Westbound and 2 lanes Eastbound. Until you Reach Asoke, when it becomes 3 and 3.
Not that any of the above is confusing in any way."Snick, You Sperm Too Much" - Anon

(sped98 @ Jan. 03 2007,03:55) Yeah i can vouch for the stats , 14,500 killed a year.As for me , a valuable lesson learned on my first day in Bangkok at 2 in the afternoon.
Went to cross over Sukhumvit road near the Landmark hotel , looked right...3 lanes clear
ran across the road , over the central reservation , looked left , 3 lanes clear , stepped down onto the road and BANG....nearly came home in a box.Luckiest guy in Thailand that day , bounced up the side of the car and landed in a heap.Driver didnt stop , motorbikes driving round me as i crawled off the road on my hands and knees....a valuable lesson learned
