For me it would be Bangkok to start with. I would take six months to explore the hidden parts of the city and the older parts or what still exists. Close to patts for weekend trips and the thought of a visit now and again or once midweek to guess or nana looks pleasing.

After that i would probably move up north chiang mai prehaps or even further up! Although not Thailand i could happily live in Laos or even Cambodia at a push.

Way i see it with the very cheap public transport and low cost airlines i could be at the seaside(phuket,samui) when i wanted!
