    Sense to it??

It does seem iilogical to see the US$ appreciating but it has all to do with the Central Banks, the Sovereign Funds, Hedge funds around the world all wanting to decouple their connection plus with the Yen Carry Trade unwinding,

all of this requires the purchase of massive amounts of US$ & that creates a once-off demand & gives the illusion that all is well with the greenback.

There maybe another year for these positions to be closed out, some say less but whatever, once done the demand for the US$ will fall like a stone.

Of course many smaller economies will fall with it & you may still enjoy cheap holidays. Thailand's economy is in for a pounding this year, but this won't necessarily be helpful for anyone looking for bargains.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

      47.5 at Bangkok Bank today.

At this rate, and if it keeps dropping, will have to seriously consider travel plans.

If you have pounds DUMP THEM!

The UK has nothing left to sell and we'll continue to freefall the pound for a while yet.

Parity with the dollar by next month...

Come June I'll have cleared out every penny I own out of the UK. Not sure where yet, but it won't be anywhere near the idiot fools of our criminally incompetent government.

          criminally incompetent government
I think you have hit the nail on the head. The buck stops here and and the Chancellor has a lot of explaining to do. The complete lack of any regulations has led to all this crap, and now no-one is going to be held responsible.

Bonus and huge redundancies all round, chaps? Makes you want to puke..

Yeah, I'm thinking the same and might have to cut my next trip to 14 days instead of 19 , but hey 14 is better than zero

Its not all doom and gloom for the GB peso. Eventually its value will bottom out as other countries start being more honest about their banks debts. The money markets will then find another currency to speculate on.

I suspect that within the next 6 months the GB peso will start to regain some of its value as the Euro falls.

In the USA the FBI have 247 investigators auditing the banks looking for criminal neglect. In the UK the police fraud squads have not been instructed by the Government to investigate the banks. The suspicion is that if they did, this could lead to some highly placed politicians being investigated.

Another typical example of our incompetent and corrupt government failing to do its job.

The Labour government of the UK is easily the most incompetent and corrupt government that Europe has had in the last century. Even the Italians would marvel at the depth of depravity of this administration.

It has simply lied, bullied and plundered its' way through the entire country and now there is nothing left.

The whole administration should be hauled before the European Courts of Justice for crimes against humanity. Their criminal neglect and stupefying idiocy has bankrupted this nation in a decade.

The UK has no manufacturing base, the financial services center has moved to Asia, the currency is in free fall and unemployment is about 7 million.

Property has (and continues to) plummet in value, pensions have been stolen and lost, the next generation of workers face national debts of trillions that cannot be paid and crime is soaring.

The government of the UK is wholly unprepared for any disaster and lurches from one disaster to the next with child like efficiency.

Yes, folks... I've been saying all this for many years and it's just possible that now, after years of being ignored, that a few people are sitting up and thinking that there just may be something in what this idiots saying!

I hope so... but really it's too late.

In a few weeks the government WILL LOSE it's AAA credit rating. By the summer we will be off to the IMF for a hand out that we won't ever be able to afford or pay back... and then I'm afraid that we are finished as a country.

In ten years we will have turned from a nation of shopkeepers into a nation of small farmers.

Goodbye Britain - I hardly knew thee!

An excellent summation but your extrapolation maybe hasn't gone far enough...

There have been suggestions that we will live to see a return of the feudal system, where entire communities will be fed, housed & taken care in return for their indentured labour.

The feudal system survived for centuries & providing the relationship between the lord & the serfs was tolerable, there was no need to change it. Given the choice today between anarchy & a stable community that ensured food, clothing & housing, many would opt for it.

Of course society would have to break down completely before such a situation could be countenanced, however the UK (along with many other countries) is heading in the right direction.

Some will consider this to be too far-fetched but I must say it is not my original idea, there are far more qualified persons than I speculating that this is a possible outcome.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.
