I think sooner than that. In fact I think we'll have been cap in hand to the IMF in six months. It's how previous Labour governments have shirked out of their responsibilities... and to the naughty chappy who slighted Queen Margaret (Thatcher) I would suggest that you take a look at the way France is now before you knock her.

That poor country desperately needs a leader with balls... which The Dame had in copious supply!

She lost it in the final year of her PMship but without Maggie we'd be in REALLY shit shape.

Stogie's right for all their present crowing about their banking system being unaffected by the present crisis the fact is that France has been careering towards a major employment crisis for years.

They have some of the most restrictive employment laws in the world and amongst the highest rates of unemployment to match.

Sarkozy needs to do what Maggie did and face down the unions. He has no choice on this otherwise the cost of employing people in France will become so excessive that the entire system will grind to a halt.
