      Al Pacino
      Charlton Heston
      John Wayne
      Christian Bale
      Edward James Olmos
      Roger Moore
      Tom Hanks
      Hugh Grant
      Leonardo Di Caprio
      Matt Damon
      Christopher Plummer

a few others I like.. but Al Pacino would be my favorite. The Godfather has had me sold for a very long time.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

Come on JD...Dustin Hoffman...More range of anyone on your list...A few of his movies...
The Graduate, Midnight Cowboy, Little Big Man, Straw Dogs, Lenny, All the President's Men,
Marathon Man, Kramer vs. Kramer, Tootsie, Death of a Salesman, Wag the Dog...

In my opinion the best actor ever.

BTW...Unlike some others, I like people even if they don't agree with my opinions...

Thanks KH        And remember the list on these polls has to be kept at under 10 or less, I could've gone on much longer.

           Hoffman IS very good...... best role IMO was Rain Man ...... as was John Wayne from Jakes list {but Hugh Grant??   }

Also......Spencer Tracy, Gregory Peck, Chuck Heston, Gary Cooper, all not included.....Daniel Day- Lewis may be the best one of the modern era also and I didn't even include him, I chose mostly old-school guys.

My poll, I can choose the names!!   LOL

Sorry Jake, but I think putting Roger Moore on your list basically invalidates your vote....

This might be a great list of the "greatest male movie stars" some of whom are also great actors, but a few of the choices.... no.

I'd have to suggest adding Robert Redford, George Clooney, and Denzel if it's a list of the greatest male movie stars, and if it's truly about the acting, I'd want to add Sean Penn, Daniel Day-Lewis, Peter O'Toole, Morgan Freeman, Al Pacino, Phillip Seymour Hoffman....

              Remember, 10 choices or less {really 9 names plus the last one}

Cuts the list down .....and makes for a more interesting and debate-filled thread

If you guys are gonna add some of the still achieving younger boys (younger to me at any rate)...Please don't forget Johnny Depp...

They don't get much more versatile than Johnny D...

I make no apologies for being the lone vote so far for Clint Eastwood. To say anyone is the best is rather subjective, so I just picked the actor who's movies overall probably brought me more enjoyment than anyone else's movies. Whether he acted, directed, or did both.

As for your list, I agree with previous posters who mentioned Pacino and Hoffman. They both are probably more appropriate choices than Hackman, Connery, Grant or Olivier. IMO, either of Pacino or Hoffman would have gotten more votes than any of those 4.

Other actors who would make my top ten would be Robert Duvall, Christopher Walken and William Holden.

I rate actors in terms of how much I enjoy watching them because I couldn't really tell if they are much better or worse than each other.

The actor I most enjoy watching on that (unusual) list is Gene Hackman.

Brad Pitt is an extraordinary talent judging by his bizarre and mesmerizing part in 12 monkeys.

Christopher Walken is my favourite actor to watch in action.

Gary Oldman I like. It's all very well to say you only had 10 choices JaiDee but Connery and no Pacino ? tut tut
I saw him on the big screen in 'scent of a woman', which may not have been the best filum ever, but I needed a stiff drink after that one.

In the category of actors I like a lot and will go to see almost anything they're in : Redford.
Range : Hackman, Hoffman and Pacino.

Sadly De Niro has lost his way since a while ago now..although I thought the Fockers movies were a hoot..
Did you exchange a walk-on part in the war for a lead role in a cage

Al Pacino, Godfather & Scarface, he understands his craft.

Very difficult but I know who is not good. Hmm Roger Moore & Hugh Grant err cant see them in a million years
