    To clarify lets compare:

My favorite Hugh Grant movies: 4 weddings & a funeral, nine months, love actually - all are tasteful.

my least favorite Adam Sandler movies: Waterboy, Happy Gilmore, Zohan

P.S. my fav adam sandler role is in Airheads.. but he got lucky, he walked into that one.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

Gentlemen, please. This thread is on the topic of Best Actor Ever.

WTF have popular comics got to do with great thespians? Perhaps a new thread is needed called "My Favourite Comic Actor of the Past 20 Years"?
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

Its pretty subjective but i like Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson.

All the people listed are pretty good. It would easier to sift out the worst actors but i wont mention Steven Segal here...

I'm a Roger Moore fan too. A class act in every way. Ollie Reed is underrated as well.
Of the 3 pics from Dave, I'd go for Burton.
The Spy Who Came in From The Cold, and Look Back in Anger. Who else could make such great writing even greater ?

                  Don't forget this one Dave

Look i have to mention Arnold Schwarzenegger

Now don't laugh.... he is not the classic type already mentioned but those movie in the 80's
he was the king of the action genre and simply an awesome screen presence. And he had the ability to transport you into those make believe worlds.
You mentioned Arnie... and the movie was a must see!!

Predator stands the test of time as arguably the greatest action flick of all time!!

                            seen it......at the theaters!!!    grrrrrrrrrr

What  a waste of 2 hours

Not even Val Kilmer, who I like, could save that one.

BTW,  Val Kilmer would never make this list but his performance in "the Doors" has  GOT to be one of the best acting roles of all time as far as hitting the mark on the person you were portraying; his portrayal of  Jim Morrison was simply astounding.

Should have added Richard Burton to the list.......and this tread really should've been named 'Favorite Actors Ever' in retrospect......he was a great one, a true professional.

Adam Sandler polluting this thread??  Phhuullleeaassseee

He gives the profession a bad name, not ONE of his movies should ever make a person over age 12 laugh or even sit through it, he is horrible and every project he has ever done is horrible; I mean, 15 movies playing a retarded person makes someone good??

Ditto Will Ferrell .......never made a good movie or even one good scene, he has GOT to be embarassed when he sits through his "premieres".

The mention of Brad Pitt in 12 Monkeys, awesome....one of my favorite roles ever and a great movie;  for the newer guys Johnny Depp IS one of the better ones, he has great range [again, talking about Depp and Sandler together in the same thread is an embarassment to Depp and all modern actors]. Ed Norton and  Russell Crowe also, great range and a great newer actor, just a dick in real life.

I can see my original 9 weren't cared for that much!   Still sticking with Newman, with Jack 2nd.....Deniro probably 3rd, one of his better modern roles was in "The Score" with a bloated Brando; he was fantastic in that and of course his earlier work in Casino and Deer Hunter and Good Fellas, et al, was 2nd to none.

Burton I would put in that class of ACtors who came from the stage...like Olivier

Ya, and never really did anything good after The Doors

But man, did he ever NAIL that role!
