    Hey all

Last year we had a small little NCAA hoops bracket picks thing going on put together by PiggDogg..........anyone interested in it again this year???

It's good to King........no matter what the pay

Courage is being scared to death__and saddling up anyway

Billy Jaffe, Radio Voice of the Thrashers:
”I have absolutely No problem with Ohio State. It has a beautiful campus, and for a Junior College it has really great Academics.”

"Gentlemen and ladies, 'Those Who Stay Will Be Champions' is for you too. It's for every Michigan fan that's out there. When the going gets tough, you don't cut and run. It's not the Michigan way. If I heard it once from the old man, I heard it a thousand times -- when the going gets tough you find out who your real friends are, and that's why we must stay. Because there will be championships, and this staff and these kids will bring those championships here."

I'm in, how do we play?

Don't count on all 4 number one seeds doing it again.

There's a couple ways we could do this.

One way is to do the entire bracket thing. That can be done with CBS Sportsline. It's free to register but some might find it a hassle to register.

Or we could just do it here picking the winner of each bracket, the final winner, and the total points of the final game as a tiebreaker.

      What works for you?

Those who want to give the full fledged brackets a try, please PM me an email address and I'll send you an invitation.

We'll see how much of a hassle the registration process is.
If people are having a problem registering then we'll go to the simpler method here in the Forum.

When you register use the name that you want to use as your pool name.  I forgot to use PigDogg and instead used one of my goofing around email names.

As a twist on the standard scoring system there will be a bonerus

for picking underdogs as the team's seed gets added to your basic score each round.

Example:   A #12 seed you picked wins in the Sweet Sixteen round.  For that pick you get the 4 basic points as in normal pools for a third round game plus 12 bonerus points since it's a 12 seed for a total of 16 points for that game.

Seems to be a hassle for people to sign up at CBS Sportsline so let's just do a simple version here.

You pick the winner of each bracket, the final winner, and total points in the final game for tiebreak purposes.

Each correct bracket winner pick gets 1 point.

If you correctly pick the champion you get 2 points.

Bonerus, with every correct pick you also get bonerus points equal to the seed number of your team.

So if a number 3 seed wins a particular bracket and u pick that team u get 1+3=4 points.

Makes it worthwhile to stay away from favorites.

Picks due by either posting or PM by noontime on Thursday, New York time.

              Ok, sounds good.

Anyone know the best place to watch games in Bangkok? Would be able to sit and watch game after game during the 1st round.

Upsets already happening in conference tourneys. Michigan State falls to Ohio st. and Florida State topples UNC. Both 1 seeds in conference.

UNC, Connecticut, Pittsburg, and Louisville take top four seeds as Big East rules the brackets.

Will history repeat after all 4 top seeds made it to final four for the 1st time in tourney history. The road Motown bracket below.

UNC and Louiville (Pitino) will get overplayed in big office pools. 20 times as many people will be on each of these teams as will be on Oklahoma.

They're better but not 20 times better.

No. UConn is especially vunerable with Memphis is their bracket.

But keep in mind even if each number 1 seed had a 2/3 chance of reaching the final four, then there would only be a 16/81 chance, about 20%, of all four number 1 seeds reaching the final four.

UNC and Louisville have a pretty soft path until elite 8 play where Syracuse or Oklahoma could end UNC's season. Louisville won't run into any trouble until elite 8 match-up against Michigan State or KU, both capable of taking them out of the dance.

Early round games I want to see:
                        5 Illinois v. 4 Gonzaga likely 2nd round match-up
                        4 Xavier v. 5 Florida State " "
                        6 Marquette v. 3 Mizzou " "

All these teams have to win their 1st game of course.

Biggest 1st game upsets: I look for two number 10 seeds to win.
                        USC over Boston College
                        Maryland over Cal

Not so sure these can be classified as upsets. USC is the favorite and Maryland only a 1 point underdog.

Favorites by seeds, havent looked at line yet, but I guess a lot of people like the lower seed USC to move the vegas odds.
