  • (Grinder @ Apr. 28 2008,15:38) Life must be a barrel of laughs round your house pal.

Ladies with balls? On a ladyboy forum? Get it? No? Sorry - just my way of helping the day go by.

FYI Etta James takes up a fair amount of space on my I-pod...

The more I listen to Jeremy Clarkson, the more I agree with him.

    Hello Mr Grinder

That Mr Clarkson is your hero doesn't surprise me. He has his views and thinks he is learning us something. Well I never learned anything from this motor car bloke or his pro smoking attitude. Up to him .Neither did he teach me anything. But again you must be happy and at ease when you listen to this guru. Of course the world around my house can be a laugh. Do I care? no. Do i get angry at posts like yours? no
You might like to know why because any post of yours just shows your own inner world. In my humble opinion childish. But again even that is no problem for me.
The way you write your posts and react shows me one thing any person that doesn't fit in your world or you simply don't understand has to be teached by you ( and there you and your good friend Mr clarkson meet because he is from the same wood/ Only difference many people in the UK dig the crap he is selling). Mr Grinder you never learned to really handle a different view on anything. Your problem and certainly not mine. I'm not going to judge on you or send an angry message or anything else. What gives me the right. But be fair for once in your life what gives you the right to judge, to jump to conclusions or even writing down some rules about what this forum should be. Are you the new messiah Mr Grinder or the enlightened one. I think Mr Clarkson deep in his heart thinks he is and he lives on this. Maybe Mr grinder you like to travel the same road. Please do and who knows singing a song by plastic bertrand ( a belgian punk "singer") might just be the stairway to heaven you are longing to. One thing you might like to know Mr Plastic Bertrand never sang on the record that impressed you so much. It makes a man wonder doesn't it

Take care and again don't take yourself or life to serious ( or even Mr Clarkson)

    Ben

Bloody Hell Ben, methinks you may be taking Grinder a bit too seriously.
Let's wish the wee Scottish laddie a happy birthday then we can have a nice cup of tea and a little lie down. Well that's what I'm going to do...night night

      • Hi Ben ,

I think you are missing the point here , the Duffy track is a great tune and has a soulful vibe and combined with a cool video fits nicely into this thread .

I met Duffy through a mate who DJs for her , and shes cool , loves soul music , is she gonna be the new Etta James or Aretha Franklin ? I think she would laugh at that , of course she isn't even in that league .

Your point about the roots of soul music did come across as a lecture even if you did not intend it to be that way , my reply about the Ted Taylor tracks (record labels , demo's and all ) was a little lighthearted dig to let you know that I do know my stuff when it comes to soul music , as does Naang Faa and Orgasmaddict and others who post in this thread .

When we are on the subject of Ted Taylor check out - Somebodys always trying- on the Okeh label (label and issue up to you   ) this track is pure R&B groove 2 mins 30 seconds of pure class , you will love it .

If you love soul music check out www.soul-source.co.uk a site for people like me who are fanatical about soul and probably need medical help (what ! you spent how much on a record !)

        Keep the faith brother
Free your mind and your ass will follow .

          • I'm not the Messiah Mr Turpin, I'm just a very naughty boy.

Well, that's me told off. The finest therapy ever. And Jeremy isn't my 'hero' or my 'guru'... just someone I know personally who has made a good living out of a certain schtick. I'll pass on your love.

Thanks Monkey and Patrick for your kind words - and Monkey, I have indeed met the lovely Claire Grogan who signed all three of the Images albums for me... and gave each one a personal message such as
"XXXX and Claire, True Love Forever"

What a sweetheart she is... although, of course, that is only MY opinion.

                    Hello Mr Slim

Thanks for the information and the link. Really enjoy this. I once needed medical help too according to some of my friends when I told them what I spent on a record. I used to be an addict but I guess I'm cured now ( I hope). Four years ago collecting became an obsession. So at that point I had to stop. I realized it was not the music anymore but just craving for a record. And craving is the worst situation a person can get into. (You travel around europe and come into shops you can hardly call a shop hoping to find another obscure single or lp ).Sold my collection and kept the music on cd's. I still love to play the music but I hope you understand collecting became too much.
Of course I saw in previous posts that you and some other members mentioned know their stuff. Amazing that even some people in thailand know so much. My
I pod I take with me is sometimes an eye opener to thai lb's or girls. One thing I learned is that the smart or sweet ones dig this music but strangely some who think they are superstar thailand became agressive or ignorant. (One superstar told me : me only listen to isaan music so take I pod away now/ great laugh on that one). Like I said before only experts know this. It is lovely to see how people are involved in this and enjoy it. Don't take my opinion on Duffy too serious. It is the same with food you decide what you like to eat and nobody else. If you get touched by it enjoy it and do not worry about what your friends or I or another forum member tells you
I was just teasing a little and who knows maybe I restart listening to Duffy and finally dig her. I'm not a fanatic ( saying you can only listen to this and to that) anymore but instead try to have an open mind. Again I enjoy your discussions on music.

                    Take care Ben

                        Hello Mr Slim

Lovely photo and I see you keep the good work going. I do the same in THailand. The I pod is a great invention for this work. Many lb's dig Sam Cooke ( what he is they ask me, great fun or please bring me cd which I do sometimes). Some even go crazy by Boom Boom ( John Lee Hooker / no soul music but great to see their face when they hear this song).
Another killer in any karaoke is stand by me ( easy to sing and great fun). Never do get back by the beatles at a karaoke unless you want an army of lb's after you.

Take care and again keep informing people about this music.

If you search back a few posts/days, you'll see that I cited Adele after we started talking about Duffy. Good to see new artists that are developing without the need to go down the X Factor route.
