I am actually  enjoying this  thread, it's interesting to hear all the comments  from the members, weather they be seasoned pros, blokes like rob   and the academic crowd  who know it all.
Some great points been made about relationships  and what makes them work  etc.

i am one of those realists who have a vast experiance of Thailand and the Thai way.The biggest problem in any relationship with a Thai is us  yes us. We   judge Thais by western standards. fucking forget it, they have no idea  about our waY and i doubt they ever will.If you have a relationship with a Thai , you will be looked on by her as the familly  provider,  Thais(asians in general)  put familly first, it's the duty of the children to look after the familly, so eventually  you are going to have to stick your hand in your pocket  and help mama  and pappa  on the farm in nakon nowhere.
This is generally what will put the biggest strain on the  relationship. In the west it is usually the other way, our parents leave us there  money and houses, and stickm there hands in there pockets to help, out the brat kids in trouble .Total different culture.

My advice is simple. keep the money flowing to him and his mother/father and there's half a chance that things will work out.

Stop the flow of cash and things will break down very very quickly.
