Lady Drinks: The great debate!

By the way I have no problem with buying lady drinks and agree we are paying for their time so if we invite them to sit we should buy them a drink.

What I am referring to is after the bar fine is paid then I have paid for her to be with me for the agreed time and what I give her after the deed is for her time now so she should be off the bars clock.

we all know the feeling you get in  jsb, when you,ve been proper ripped out your undies for a ladydrink.
but it only happens once.

i once got stiched up in jsb by pentire, and had to buy a "man drink" for that kid with the very large head who is related to jenny.
there is no sinking feeling quite like it.

come on guys... lets say you are buying maybe 5 LD`s night...that would be apr. 250 baht....

how much do you spend on your flight??? 25-30K

its not the bars that make this commision...its the girls FFS so if you feel that it is too much to give the poor girl a small commision...then dont buy her drinks...simple as that...

i tend to buy apr. 10 LD`s a night while here in Phuket thats a mere 500Baht...money that goes straight to the girls...and can be cashed in already next day...which is perfect as the girl then know she can have a meal next day...

you could argu fr that you shuld not pay LD`s after you barfined a girl...but think twice before you do....the girl will just see you as a cheap charlie...and proberly the service would be lower....

I realise many people leave with the girl once the bar fine has been paid but I like to often stay and have a few more drinks.

This is not about 500 baht it is about a feeling of being taken for an idiot and being ripped off.

Anyway you say its only 500 baht but I was just in Thailand and Philippines for 9 weeks so 9*7*500 = 31500 baht

As far as the girl being able to eat she will be rewarded handsomely for the st or long she just had with me so should be plenty to put some som tum in your stomach.

i respect your opion even that i dont see the big problem...

iam more concerned when barowners dont stop their girls hassling for drinks... thats i find way more annoying...

I am seeing LD cola in bangkok costing 150 baht each and rising. It's just not worth that. There's no way I will be buying 10 of those a night.

And FWIW, I buy an LD only as a reward for good service. Buying one as an invitation to sit down is just asking to be dumped 5 seconds later when they go looking for the next piece of fruit.

Completely with Ozzie on this. This is not about stiffing the girl. She is being paid in a completely separate transaction. All this talk of "cheap Charlie" is a red herring. Some bar owners clearly expect to have a Bob/Bet each way. Not paying "over charges" is the correct approach. Do you put up with it in other situations, whether it be your "check bin", hotel charges, Taxi charge or ANY OTHER expenditure etc etc? Being prudent with your cash is not being "cheap". On the other hand if you want to tip for SERVICE, go ahead, it's your money. People that come from countries where tipping is neither common or expected may well have different views on this.

So, Ozzie, you can afford to be away from work, and in the bars 7 nights a week for 9 weeks (!), but 1,000 aussie dollars is too much to give away for some good service? Oh perleeease!

The option is there for you at C & Ds - but its never been an issue for anybody while i've been in "office", until now, and i've a hunch its not an issue for 99% of BMs.

I have been following this thread with interest. It reminds me very much of my own business that I closed last year.

So many customers spent so much time trying to convince me how, by lowering my prices, I would attract so much more business & I would be better off.

For years I tried to explain that it was unaffordable to give away more profit. I had worked out the best balance between value for money & sustainability that I could.

"Come on" they all said "you are doing well, you can afford to subsidise the rest of us"

Finally I closed the business & now, not a week goes by where old customers don't call me pleading for help because they are being screwed by my old competitors.

I wasn't running a ladyboy bar in LOS but the principle is the same.

Well, thats fair comment pacman. However, this is not even about money for me, its about a few commssions to the girls! And i would have thought this thread could be better attacking issues like charging ladydrink prices when you take the girl to another bar, or those bars that charge too much for ladydrinks, rather than depriving the girls of tomorrows eating money (as batman stated in his contribution).
In soi tiger, if you wanted to meet Sonya for instance, they charge 200Bt for a ladydrink! They argue, with some justification that its just so hard to get attractive ladies now, that they have to pay 100Bt commission. Otherwise the girls just go to the discos at 1am, have an hour dancing and drinking with young hansum man, then off to the loom. Easy peasy. And in soi Tiger, there is no option for not paying full price.

Ozzie, if you stop paying the commissions, the girl will be in a hurry to remove you from the bar, get you back to the loom, and get the "job" done. Then she can get back to the bar to potentially work on another customer. You'll find she will be much more attentive if you keep buying ladydrinks. But remember, you do have the option.

I had not thought about this before, probably because when I pay a barfine it is usually when I am ready to leave, so not really an issue.

But I think I agree with Ozzie.....the first transaction(s) are buying LD's when in the bar. When BF is paid, that moves onto a new transaction ie between me and the girl. The girl is on my clock now, not the bars, so not sure why I would still have to pay for LD's.

I have usually decided that I am going to BF a girl quite early, but then keep buying a few more drinks (at LD prices) until ready to leave. Doesn't really bother me because I know that the extra money is (mostly) going to the girl and she has a quota (in most bars).

Bit of an over exaggeration don't you think? Given I would have more than likely bought the girl one or more drinks before paying her bar fine and will be be paying her for services rendered after we leave the bar I am hardly depriving her of eating money.

Why would she be in a hurry to remove me from the bar if she is staying for long time? In fact I would think the opposite would be the case as she can stay longer with her friends and hey if I happen to get a little too intoxicated it might end up being and easy night for her
