Lady Drinks: The great debate!

In the past when the bar charged 120 Baht for a small glass of Coke/Orange Juice watered down with Ice I think that when you pay BF then the Lady is a 'customer.

IF the bars move towards a regime of paying +30/50 Baht on a normal drink then I think, if you stay in that bar, then that is OK.

There are a number of issues.
1) The Lady is now getting her commission on top - fair enough she must live.
2) The bar is NOT making more money for every drink
3) There is a hidden agenda - many bars require a monthly quota - to get salary they must hit quota.
(So if you buy more drinks + comm you are helping her hit quota)
4) BF is now the only way for a bar to make money - they cannot survive on drink sales alone.

So IF a bar gives a real drink they are not making the 70+ Baht they were before on LadyDrinks.
The customer cannot expect to win all ways.

If the bars go under (because they do not make any money) then we are left with the street walkers - food for thought!

As many have said, in this new regime/idea, you have the choice - go to another bar. However maybe the LB wants to sit with you longer to see how she feels with you.

Free drinks
No BFs
No commission on LDs

The only problem is that he closes the bar - now where do you go....

Think about it!  Do you buy a car and assume that the garage now is liable for all your gas bills?

Maybe I am in the minority but how does this have anything to do with what the bar charges for a lady drink? As far as I am concerned I pay the bar fine I can leave the bar with the girl at anytime and go and drink somewhere else and pay regular prices right?

Also the bar makes money on a regular drink anyway because if it did not they would go out of business very quickly and as far as I can tell a lady drinking a regular drink along with her customer is better for the bar than than both leaving to drink elsewhere?

Ozzie's argument is not one I am familiar with because my modus operandi is to usually call for the check bin at the same time as the bar fine is paid.
If.....for some reason our departure was delayed and another tab was opened with the girl having a further drink, I would probably feel a bit disappointed if commission was applied.

I think that's the way most guys operate so in practice it probably doesn't affect too many people.

But what really gets people's goat is when someone is barfined from one bar and then get's charged with ladydrink prices at a different bar.

I've heard this happens with the Family group.   It could also happen if a girl freelances at many bars.



Good move for LaBamba customers by both doing away with the spalshes of soda and actually lowering ladydrink prices.

seems like Deja vu to me - Guess bar has had the simple policy in place for the last THREE years:-

Sandard ladydrink = 100b
Any other drink, be it beer, breezer, wine or whatever is at the SAME price as the customer pays.    (the girl still receives her commission but odds are, the guy is also buying a drink so the bar is better off by selling two drinks).  There is no difference in before or after Barfine as the drinks remain the same and the girl continues to get commission.    

By the way, Guess is probably unique in that the staff have ZERO quotas for barfines or ladydrinks.

Its not exactly rocket science.

i just wanna share, though i noticed many of you just talked about LD in thai bars...

in shampoo,,, our LD is 350, and that includes a commission for the girl which is 100 pesos, so 250 goes to the bar, but that is also where we get our salary, i mean we have our daily allowance which is 100 peso a day , good for fare for some girls... and not every night is busy...
so i guess its only fair...


some guys tell me the LD is expensive... but i guess it is only fair... 100 for the girl, then the regular price of the drink and some for the bar... AND we can get to choose whatever we like to drink, either soft, hard or beer...

That seems overly generous to the customer to me (not that I am complaining! )

I don't see why the bar is better off. Assuming drinks are 100 Baht in other bars(?), if I go to another bar, that other bar has just gained 40 Baht (or whatever the Guess girls drink commission is) compared to Guess Bar

But, yes, I don't often go to other bars because I spend all my money in Guess because I know the prices are reasonable

I never did quite get the hang of the ladydrink custom, other than NO, I don't buy a drink if I'm asked. But I love to buy one if unsolicited and I want the girls attention for a few minutes. Problem came in when i tried to buy a ladydrink for Paeng at EZY after first telling her that I was not going to barfine her again tonight. I wanted to show my respect and extend the hand of friendship as I genuinely like her, but once she heard that I wasn't going to barfine her I think she took it as some sort of loss of face, to have me offer to buy her a drink. It obviously upset her pride in some fashion, which was the last thing I meant to do. I don't recall how it all came out, and I did end up bar fining her later in the week again.

The main thing I think I enjoyed about the "ladydrink experience" was feeling like I was supporting the bars that provide our entertainment, and feeling like I was buying 5 or 10 minutes of flirting and maybe even a bit of groping without being obligated to barfine. The girls didn't seem to see it that way though, so I might rethink that and fine tune it a bit on the next trip.
