some less, some if Pacman is to be believed even for just food
but not because they are happy to take it's because they

If aimed at me, in the present climate 'Yes'

An old employer has cut wages 40%, increased the working day by 10% and cut rest times by 75% to 2,10 minute breaks for food a day. His phone does'nt stop ringing with grown men reduced to 'begging' for work.

There is some question of price parity here.

Would be interesting to see a scientific evaluation of P4P prices in regard to median wage and comparing it to other countries.

I did a comparison to my own country about 5 year ago and going on the estimations, anyone who was paying more than five - eight hundred baht for a round in the ring with a street prostitute in Thailand was paying more comparatively than in my home country for the same service.

Why should tourists pay more than the locals any way, takes all the advantages out of sex tourism.

Thailand enjoys it world wide success as a tourist destination by being good value for money. That is why tourists come here.

I doubt they have long involved discussions on tourism blogs about the fact that cab drivers and waitresses are paid a pittance compared to their american or British counter parts, or accuse each other of exploitation by going on holiday in Thailand.

Also remember many of us are very long term tourists in Thailand.

Of course it is...      

Without buying into the argument of whether or not 500 baht is considered exploitive, what Pattaya could do with right now is 1000 guys like Lefty who would all go out & take a girl home for 500 baht.

A bit of competition would even raise the prices. At the moment the girls are showing solidarity in the bars (or a case of face-saving more likely) & refusing to accept less than 1000 baht ST.

Run into them 4 hours later in Walking Street & they are singing a different song.

And who knows how this will play out next year with no sign the Thai economy will improve any time soon...    

Consider this - the cheapest Charlie punter who we might loathe & hate for trying to undercut the market is still providing more money directly to the girls than any NGO or charity is doing.

    I can see where you are coming from yopchagi, you are interpretting donnnnnny's applause as his support for her side of the story but that isn't how I understand his post.

We all encourage ladyboys to contribute to the forum & I took Don's post to support the fact that Chompoo posted a damn good defense for her indefensible position. I support her reply too but that doesn't make me naive. Or make me rush to defend her.

Naturally I regret missing any opportunity to poke fun at the Donald...      

However I can tell you that with Donnnnnny's track record of many visits to the Kingdom there is very little he doesn't know...

apart from basic grammar, an occasional split infinitive, the odd non sequiter, some spelling disasters...

It is always a good thing to listen to both parties but at the end you will have to make up your mind which also could mean that you do not have enough inside to go with either of the stories.
The reply from Donnny looked to me straight forward and that is what I call naive based on my statement above.
