I'm staying in a superior room at the Rendezvous and would most definetly stay there again.  Very comforatble and an excellent value at 1000 baht (February price).   For you guys who like pools, the 5 star Paradise pool is about a minute away and can be used for 100 baht a day.  Cocktails and Dreams is less than 5 minutes away.

Don't be put off that this is a gay owned and gay friendly hotel.  It is by no means in your face gay, rather a small, discrete, and very comfortable guesthouse.

For those of you who know Phuket, it's almost directly across the soi from the now defunct Koh Joy cabaret taht now has a sign that says Venus club but seems never to be open.

I looked at lots of hotels in Phuket, and many were cheaper, some more expensive but found the Rendezvous to be the best value. The standrd rooms are quite small so I recomend a superior room which seems much more spacious.

I hear what you're saying Stewart and maybe you're your right. But at night it feels like an apartment rather than any type of hotel. There's nothing about the hotel that feels gay to me. It's on a soi with all str8 businesses such as three or four lady massage places and no boy massage places.

So even though it's on one of the Paradise Complex sois this soi closest to Bangla road is MUCH different than th esoi furthest from Bnagla Road.

But so that no one gets the wrong impression it is owned by a guy who happens to be gay and the lirttle I saw of other guests at breakfast it appeared that they were probably gay. But unlike the Connect for example, there are no boys hanging around.
Place feels very European and will stay there agin on my next trip to Phuket.

According the link at latestays.com, Patong Villa is operating normaly. If you want stay there i would book via latestays.com and take care that you book for two persons. I did stay in Patong villa already sometime, and had never a problem, also i did not pay an joiner fee.

I am off again next week to paradise but I need your help please. I normally stay at Le Meridien but it is closed. I am looking for a top hotel, on the beach, nice and quiet but close enough to Soi Bangla in a tuk tuk. Was thinking about Hilton and Baan Yin Dee but I do not know much about them - so any advice will be greatly appreciated please.....

After reading through all the threads, C&D is a must for me this year.

I have a month to spend in this fantastic country, and i want to spend at least 2 weeks of it in Phuket, but it seems that most hotels/resorts in Phuket have joiner fee's.

Now its not that i cant afford it, or that i'm a tight ass, or anything like that, but i just don't agree with paying joiner fees, it's a rip off!.

If i can quote JaiDee in one of his earlier posts, he said he would rather give the money to the girls or pay more for the room, well spot on!, so would i.

I started doing some research on hotels/resorts in Patong that i fancied.

I started by asking them 3 questions.

(1) Are you guest friendly?

(2) My guests will be ladyboys, what are your policies on this?

(3)Do you have joiner fees?.

Here are there responds.....

I can ashore you we are guest friendly and we do not discriminate on any basis.

Royal Paradise.
Wrote twice, never got a reply.

Ladyboys, no problem, and no joiner fee.

Deevana Patong Resort
ladyboys no problem, just leave ID at desk, and no joiner fee.

Diamond Cottages.
Wrote twice, never got a reply.

Patong Resort
Guests are welcome, but joiner fee 500 per person per night.

Duang Jitt Resort
We are friendly with all guests, but joiner fee of 1000 per person per night, you can avoid this by booking a room for two people.
Also you must advise the hotel when bringing a guest back.

Layan Beach Resort.
Well this was a one liner, joiner fee 1.500 per person per night, Bust!
I wouldnt mind getting my hands on whatever there smoking!

Anyways the Deevana Patong looks really good, if you get a double deluxe, you get your own private outdoor jacuzzi for 1.900, per night in the low season.

I would book someplace for the first two nights, then walk around and look at the places on your list.
Outdoor jacuzzi sounds good, but maybe you don't need it everynight.

My recomendation is the Rendezvous.  I was extremely pleased with the Superior Room.  Now it doesn't have a pool, but you can use the one at the Royal Paradise which is one minute away for only 100 baht.  The place is very private, more like an apartment than a hotel.  Cocktails and Dreams is only a three minute walk.

Book the Superior Room or better cause the Standard is really quite small.  Request a low floor cause there is no lift.  Some don't like that the Rendezvous has a rep for being a gay guesthouse feeling that genetic girls won't like it if you stay there.  It is gay owned and over 50% of the customers are gay.  However it's on the straight soi of the Paradise Complex, across the street from the KohJoy apartments.  At night when you're walking in it doesn't feel gay, it feels like a private apartment cause you're not going to bump into other guests.

So i booked for two nights, then looked at about 10 other hotels and decided to stay put. There was not even a close second.  I prefered my room to the room in the Royal Paradise which I looked at.

By the way think it was very wise of you to be upfront and specific that you would be bringing ladyboys back to your room.  Get that out of the way upfront and in writing!

1. Slightly away from centre. 10 min walk to Bangla, or lots of tuk tuks
2. The jacuzzi is not that private. I assume you have this vision of you shagging your ladyboy in the jacuzzi. Errrrr, no. They are all out front of the ground floor rooms surrounding the pool, so everyone can see you
