            If staying in Bangkok, I highly recommend the President Solitaire. Very guest friendly, great amenities and close to the action. There website is at:

            http://www.solitaire-bkk.bangkok.com/

            I just booked for a January visit with no problems.

                Thanks for the info , I am ok for bangkok but having a problem getting a room in Pattaya, that sunshine hotel is full and I still have not heard back from Pattaya Centre Hotel, Ive stayed at the Sol Diamond a few times its ok but just ok I just stayed there because it is right next to (cant spell it) Lamuqite (or something like that) but that place has really gone down hill big time. I am looking for a place near Hi-Boss ..Any ideas?

                      Hm is that the Sunshine Hotel on Soi 8 ?
                      That sounds strange that they are full because normaly i go to Pattaya without a reservation and they have a room free.
                      Maybe more people are going to Pattaya now because of the terrible tidal wave that did hit Phuket.

                        for sure, what is bad for Phuket will be outstanding for Pattaya and I am sure the shopkeepers and hotel managers are loving this sudden upsurge in business while at the same time mourning their countrymen in Phuket. Pattaya will be booked solid all winter.......Samui also probably. Book early.

                          So true;

                          I thought I was being ignored, or they were full at the Pattaya Centre Hotel, as they never responded to my internet reservation request. So I decided to call and try the direct route. They not only had all of my info, but also my res.# rate, etc. And then said they were waiting for me to email and reconfirm. Duh?? Well at least I have a reservation, but I think they could be a little better organized.

                            that's true.....usually Graham there is on the ball with these type of things

                            Nice hotel........a little long in the tooth and the carpets could probably be changed, but still a great value, nice pool and a great location. stayed there many times; upgrade to the Junior Suite if possible; great deal at 1295Baht for a huge room.

                                nice to know that you are a Solitaire guy.....great place and beautifully-appointed rooms. did you get referred there from this board, or perhaps our model Aon? she loves that place.

                                I am sure there are some 4-star hotels in Pattaya, I just haven't stayed at any!! Definately do NOT even consider the Hard Rock a special place just because it is over-priced and trendy; at 3800 baht that place is a rip-off! I have seen the rooms and they are small and sucky.

                                try a google search..... hotels pattaya beach..... you will get dozens of results and will be able to find some exclusive places.

                                have you considered the Penthouse? never stayed there meself but many people up here have raved about it. they have designer rooms [for sex, basically] in all price ranges.
