Dear Sir,
Thank you for your e-mail.
Our best rates in January-February 2011 are
-1,500 THB/night/no breakfast for a Superior room City side on the 2nd floor.
-1,650 THB/night/no breakfast for a Superior room City side on the 3rd -5th floor.
-1,800 THB/night/no breakfast for a Superior room Pool side (not directly see the pool) on the 3rd -5th floor.
-2,000 THB/night/no breakfast for a Superior room Pool side (directly see the pool).
-2,350 THB/night/with breakfast for a Deluxe room pool side (with bathtub in the bathroom).
-2,900 THB/night/with breakfast for an Executive Suite city side
-3,350 THB/night/with breakfast for an Executive Suite pool side
I was strongly leaning towards August Suites based upon the recommendations here, but I gotta have a tub and that seems to only exist in the executive suites. I've sent an email to reservations asking for a quote but haven't got a response yet.
LK Renaissance got back to me with their "best rate" and it's higher than the rate shown on Agoda. Dickwads. But their Deluxe rooms have a jacuzzi tub and separate shower and appear to be a great value in comparison at 2633 ThB in Jan/Feb.Making newbie mistakes since 2009 so you don't have to

2000 Baht for August Suites room w/ a Tub (not a jacuzzi !)
LK Renaissance includes tax when they quote a rate, Agoda does not. However LK Renaissance also has a preferred rate they give frequent guests. If you think the price is too high, say "my friend got for 300 less, he stays there many times." It might work, it might not."Snick, You Sperm Too Much" - Anon

I just got a rate quote back from August Suites - it looks like it's about 200 baht less than they quoted a couple of months ago to El Hefe for the same time period (Jan/Feb) for the deluxe pool-side room with bathtub but they've quoted no breakfast.
At this point, I'm thinking strongly of booking the Deluxe Room with jacuzzi tub at LK Renaissance for 2633 -vs- August Suites Deluxe Room with tub 2150 (see rates quote below).
Snick, which would you choose? Anyone else familiar with both properties? I'd rather not wait until January and try for the walk-in rates unless someone councils me otherwise.

I heard good things about August Suites about a year or so ago, but they've always been inconsistent (and a little flaky) with rates. Just because you've been quoted a certain price now, don't expect the same in January. As you've seen 'El Hefe' has been quoted a different price for the same deal. I intended to stay last November but cancelled due to ill health and promised to re-book...unfortunately they conveniently forgot their original quote and tried to 'take the piss' with subsequent quotes (when they eventually replied to emails). I was put off by their front-office inconsistentcy - others have had different experiences, but the last thing I want on arrival is to have to haggle at the front desk. You men eat your dinner, eat your pork and beans

He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

Snick, what can you say about the Grand Hotel, and in particular the seaview rooms on the 9th floor? Awesome views and excellent rates. Prolly not as swanky as the LK's but for the seaview I think I'm willing to live with carpet and older furnishings...
What say yea oh sage of the sinpit on the sea?Making newbie mistakes since 2009 so you don't have to

Hey DT......
I got a Deluxe room at August Suites for 10 nights @ 2000 baht/night last day or 2 in Jan thru Feb, no breakfast. I wanted a pool & a gym this time & to be away from Beach Rd . I'm a shower man, tub not a factor, but it's in the deluxe...... are we talking "hot tub" here?
Bit of a splurge for me for Patts but I deserve one! Also snagged a FF award on Cathay Business class this time so I'm saving $$ there.
Hope there will be a few other of you reprobates there then as well.
My biggest concern is the health of the "rex" & that the regime doesn't fall apart, or occupy the airport again or worse. (I always consider the worst case scenarios cause then either I'm right or pleasantly surprised.)
I think I've stayed at a different hotel every time I've been in Pattaya, except for 2 stays at the Welkom Inn in the mid 90's.

1650 is a good price for a Jan 22 check in.
Best high season rate I have seen is 1500 baht but that was not January.
Everyone seems to like August Suites.
Re tub, I always thought wow being in the tub with a girl would be great but in practice when I had the tub I only did it with a few girls.
