(daveduke007 @ Apr. 14 2010,18:15) I have been looking quite franctically over the last few weeks looking for a bit of a "gettaway" place to stay for myself and the g/f  in Pattaya for 5 nights next month

I have finally opted for the Nirvana Boutique Suites on Jomtien Soi 4 provided I can get a booking.

I'm  looking at the I bedroom deluxe with a 5 night stay pay for 4 night thats on offer which is a really good deal and seems perfect considering the Hotel itself and Location
I looked at the rooms and they're quite nice.

And if you take the alleyway to Sally's you're less than a minute away.

Daveduke - Glad my review helped.

I would get the 1 bedroom apartment instead of the 1 bedroom deluxe. Why pay more for an extra 4 Sqm of empty space? Just remember that all the big suites are on the top floor, which means alot of stairs to climb.

I did notice that on the map PD and the g/f was quite content in the surrounding's of Sally's Bar for Rossco's and TT's bash last time considering she is not a P4P girl

I think this Hotel is a good choice given the location to the beach, and after all its only a short baht bus away from the Pier ( en-route to Ko Larn), the Pattaya Beer Garden, the Ezy Bar party on the 28th and the Cinema etc.

I stayed in the Montien once a few years ago. Found it to be a nice hotel but did not like the location and moved to the Siam Bayview after a couple of nights.

It beats me why anyone would stay there at the prices they charge. Also, the location is not great IMHO.

I have stayed in Areca Lodge, August Suites, LK renaissance and would recommend August Suites as the best room, 40 sq meters and beautifully appointed, never heard anything but good about the place.

If you like to be in the middle of the action, its hard to beat soi diana and LK is excellent. The rooms can be noisy, but the AC is good enough to create enough white noise to make the music go away.

                    Welcome back Janabiyah!

August Suites special non-published discounted rates are now extremely popular with Forum members. Janabiyah is the guy who got the ball rolling as the first Forum member to stay there.

                      PD,
What are those "non-published discount rates" at the August Suites and how does one access them?

BTW I stayed at the August Suites in early March and enjoyed it. However they charged 2,300THB per night which I found high. Nice hotel however too pricey at that level. So I am very interested in that non-published discount rate.

Guys, how do the August Suites, Areca Lodge and LK Renaissance stack up in a side by side comparison for:

                          1. Location (proximity to the action - my preferred base in the past has been PBR)
                          2. Room furnishings and appointment - feel of luxury?
                          3. Bathroom - I understand LK Renaissance have jacuzzi tub and shower, which I love
                          4. Last and least, rates...

I know I'm a lazy bastard, but if someone could distill the main points here I'd love it.

I've been leaning towards the LK for my next trip, mostly due to Snick's comment about the fantastic jacuzzi tub they have in the bathrooms, but I'm a little hazy on where the location is (in comparison to PBR which I know well). Also now very interested in August Suites since Janabiyah says emphatically it's the nicest rooms of the 3.

                            DT,

Based on the Changman's recommendation I stayed at the August Suites in early March and it was terrific. It is on Central Pattaya just above Second. It is new, clean, roomy and has a very pleasant staff. It is guest friendly although I believe they will charge 500baht for a second guest. Perhaps this is negotiable. If you book there you should request a pool side room to avoid the street side. Its location is also good. Straight down Central towards Beach is DiDi's and this is where I found one of the hottest LBs I have ever seen let alone experienced. It is easy to grab the bahtBus on Second towards Soi 6. You are also 2 minutes away from Soi 7 and 8. So the location is good. They charged me 2,300baht per night however I have recently learned you can do it for well under 2,000 (perhaps 1,500) if you go through the proper channels. Let me know if you are interested and I will connect you with the "proper channels".

I will be staying at the LKR for the first time next month. All reports on this place are good with the exception of it being noisy if you get a street side room. I have requested a back side room. We'll see. If I do not like it I will move to the August Suites. LKR's location also seems good. I got a Studio room for 1,900baht per night and for a hotel of this stature I think it is a good deal.

Both of the above hotels are close to the "action". Then again what action are you referring to? You cannot go out anywhere in Pattaya without tripping over action.

                            Best

Is that one of those rooms with used condoms and lube?

(deepthroat @ Apr. 18 2010,10:24) Guys, how do the August Suites, Areca Lodge and LK Renaissance stack up in a side by side comparison for:
I think August Suites is the nicest. I like the August Suites location as it's very easy to get home by baht bus from just about anywhere. But August Suites and LK are the same class of hotel.

August Suites is probably quieter than the LK and has a better pool for swimming.

The Areca is a notch below with the Evergreen wing being the newer nicer part. The Evergreen wing is right by the PBR.

Disclaimer----I have only visited friends and have never stayed at any of these hotels so YMMV.
