(daveduke007 @ Dec. 10 2006,09:28) I stayed at the Areca Lodge and will be definately be staying there again

    www.arecalodge.com

    Executive room- 2080baht
    Deluxe room-1250baht
    Standard-1000baht

Very guest friendly, the desk will ask for girls id and up to your room they go so no problems there

I booked direct with the hotel, paid a deposit and paid in full on check out

I stayed in an executive room  for which there only 4, one on each floor, so I will go for a deluxe next time as I felt like a snob

Cable TV  in rooms and UBC in the sports bar and front bar downstairs

The buffet breakfast is good too and the BEST bacon I have ever had in a hotel, proper English style

    Dave...
Same for me: Pattaya booking = Areca Lodge booking

    Perfect value for money.

I had executive room and booked it again for 31 january.
I like being a snob sometimes.

    Greetings,
After the problems I had with the Sunshine i will be seeking an alternative hotel in Pattaya on my next visit. I have looked at the Areca Lodge before & thought it looked nice, but had understood they were not LB friendly, it would seem this is not the case.

    • This is an excellent hotel. No problems with bringing in guests. The hotel is fairly new and is very clean.

        • Don't know if you guys have heard of it before, but 'The Vault' in Pattaya is the best. They have a choice of rooms (Standard, Long Room and Penthouse). There are only 3 Penthouses, but the Long Rooms & Standards are still excellent. For all of you that are looking to bypass staff, this place has two entrances (like the Swiss Grottino in BKK-Soi 19).

          Rates:
          Standard: 1100bt.
          Long Room: 1400bt
          PH: 2800bt
LOC: Off 2nd road; 5 min. from Walking Street (take TQ 2 alley from WS to 2nd Road and it's right there).

You have to check out the website to get the full picture. Notice the 'dancing stage and pole' in the PHs?? Awesome place. No pool, but you're not there to get a tan and if you are, then go to the beach. It's quiet too and not far from the prime action.

              • Does anyone have any comments on the Dynasty Inn Soi 13 Pattaya and Sunshine Hotel Soi 8 please.. which one is better and more LBfriendly?

                • Both are ladyboy friendly, then again very few places aren't these days.

Dynasty Inn, Soi 13 is my pick, however I haven't stayed at the Sunshine Hotel.

Having looked at the Sunshine Hotel website, the rooms actually do look very nice, better than I thought !

A number of forum members do choose to stay at the Sunshine Hotel I believe.

I prefer the location of the Dynasty, as its a little quieter than Soi 8 which is a party street into the early hours.

                  Cheers

Dynasty Inn, no doubt, I was staying in the Sunshine Jan 07 & looked at the Dynasty Inn, looked much better.

Sunshine is noisy & in my opinion, is nothing special, but its OK, most of my problems with the place revolved around it having 98% occupancy & it simply couldn't cope, plus the water out the hot tap was dirty & there was very little warm water never mind hot!

                    • While I`m new to this site I`m an old Asia traveller but have not been there for a decade, does anybody who lives there now know places and prices to retire in thailand like renting houses or flats by the months in or near Pattaya, Hua Hin, Ko Chang. Thanks, Deric

Rooms look nice, and great view from the balcony.

                          • Recent experience of the Areca Lodge (where I have stayed before without problems).

In April, I booked a room by e-mail for 4 weeks in advance and faxed my credit card details in case I did not turn up because it was a late arrivel in the evening.

The bastards charged my card for all 4 nights 3 weeks before I arrived!! I asked them to cancel my reservation and return my money.

AL: "Sorry sir, cannot....money already in our bank"
Me: "If you can accept a credit card transaction, you can reverse it"
AL: "Sorry sir, cannot....money already in bank. We can cancel your booking and you can have credit for next time you come"
Me: "There is not going to be a next time.....return my fucking money please"

I still have not got my money back. My credit card company is after them

                            • I have been to Pattaya and Stayed at the marriot but never took LB there are they LB friendly what about Whitehouse Condotel or sandyspring hotel? Thanks for the help

                              • All of those places have been discussed previously on the forum, and each is LB friendly.

The Marriott is more family orientated however it doesn't seem to stop Bam from sunning his ladyboys by the pool !

Whitehouse & Sandy Springs are both well located in Soi 13 with Stringfellows & Club 131 in the next street, Soi 13/1.

                                Cheers
