Cheers RR, yeah think it is beside the canal alright, didnt realise that it was that far away from Suk or that soi 3 was one way. The walk wouldnt be a problem for me but if my companion for the night had to totter that far on her high heels she might start to moan.

You could get a cab to the end of soi 1 and walk along the klong and walk up the steps to soi 3 if you really wanted to.

Another new hotel opening on 1st Nov in Suk Soi 8 called the Adelphi suites. Opening rates at 2500b nett and rooms like good. Website at www.adelphisuites.com
No idea if its girl friendly at this stage. Walked past it last week and about 100m in from Suk on right hand side as you walk down, just past the Lolitas sub soi and short cut through to Soi 6. I think the site used to be some kind of beer garden in days gone past.
Cheers

Just on the adelphi suites , have seen them and they are first class. They are currently working around the clock to finish the pool area as the rooms have been completed. Apparently all is looking good for a completion on the 4th nov
The owner is an Indian and if you have had any dealing with them, well enough said .
As for the Lb situation. I don€™t think there would be a problem as long as the girl you bring home doesn€™t dress like a pattaya walking street lb .

(BENBEN @ Oct. 24 2007,06:07) Anyone stayed at the Unico Leela Hotel on Soi 3 recently?. Had a look on Bangkok1st.com and it seemed pretty good with rooms between 950 and 1400 baht a night. Has a pool, safes in the deluxe rooms and doesnt look like too far of a walk from Nana/Guess. Anybody know if it is guest/lb friendly?
Thinking about booking it unless some of you guys have any negative comments about the place. Cheers.
I stayed there a couple months ago. Â It's guest-friendly. Â They will ask for your guest's ID, but I understand that this is standard practice at most hotels. Â If you are looking for comfort, I would recommend somewhere else. Â The way the lobby looks, you think it's a nice place at first. Â But the elevator is tiny, and as soon as you get out of the elevator, the hallway looks like the hallway of a cheap apartment or dormitory. Â The rooms are not exactly comfortable. It's not dirty, but I had to kill a small cockroach. Â The water pressure from the shower was also very weak. Â The staff was friendly though, and I was able to store my valuables in the hotel safe by the reception. Â I remember that I paid $24 USD. Â So it's basically a budget hotel. Â But the location is good and within walking distance of Nana.
I have no real basis for comparison with other hotels though. Â (The only other time I was in Bangkok, I stayed at the Royal Orchid Sheraton, which isn't cheap.) Â If travelling on my own money, I would personally look for something in between a budget hotel and 4-5 star. Â
By the way, does anyone have any experience with the Omni Tower? Â http://www.somerset.com/thailand/ban...mni_tower.html
The location is close to Nana, and 4 nights comes to around 8400 baht. Â Are rooms OK, and more importantly, is it guest friendly? Â I was thinking of maybe going in early December.
edit: Seemed to have found the answer to my own question through a simple search. The Omni seems decent and guest-friendly.

Update on the Adelphi suites located on soi 8. www.adelphisuites.com
great location and for the price I would prefer to stay here than any where else in sukhumvit at the moment .Pool is very small but situated on the roof so sun all day . High speed internet in the rooms included.
Ok they are not exactly cheap and I know a lot of the guys here go on and on about the Grand Dynasty but in comparison, this hotel is so much better!
Photos are for the Executive One BedroomAttached Files

The rate for 2500 baht is for their studio, which in my opinion is still a hell of a lot better than the DIG .
Can confirm that LB's are allowed (well I haven't had a problem anyway)But like most of these 4 or 5 star hotels discretion is always preferred .
