    (Road Runner @ Apr. 25 2006,02:25)
(thaibound @ Apr. 25 2006,08:58) the Dynasty Grand looks interesting - but i couldn't find it at asiatravel and know NOTHING about it except the brief note here.

So...is it really new or just an old hotel with new owner?
For 1800 thb will i get a newer, nicer, cleaner room than i would at the majestic suites?
    Hello Thaibound,

I should have checked the Asia Travel link before I put it up  -  I normally do but didn't in this case
Checked around properly this time and interestingly I can't find it on any discount site at the moment.

If you use the link and/or e-mail  Dynasty Grande  and the e-mail address  [email protected]     I would expect they will get back to you very quickly.

The hotel is new  -  it opened around the new year.  The staff have been moved from the Dynasty Inn which the company still own/operate.
The staff there were brilliant  -  about the best I've met in a hotel  -  hopefully they have not changed.

The rooms I believe are bigger than the Dynasty Inn.  That could make them as much a twice the size of the rooms in the Majestic Suites.

The downsides are they could still be doing construction work nearby and a couple of months ago there was no internet access in the rooms.  I could be out of date on both of these though.

    RR.
    thanks RR,
i did contact them directly and they got back to me 'overnight' - or the previous day? hard to figure the time change!
no more details on the room beyond the 'pre-opening introductory price' of 1800thb which does kinda sound like the thai version of 'pardon our construction'. i don't suppose any of you guys now in bangkok could stroll by and see what's what? if you do the first couple singhas are on me.
i'll be arriving in 8 days. and should be at big dog's for the dusk arrival parade.
i already feel like packing, standing at the door and waiting for the taxi!

Thaibound - I have stayed there 3 times now in as many weeks (suits my purposes to have a semi decent whoring hotel adjacent to Nana, rather than use my apartment). I have also stayed at the Grand Majestic and whilst the Majestic is slightly better in terms of overall finish, there really is not much in it. for about 35% cheaper price, is it not in my opinion 35% worst than the Majestic. However what I really like about the place is that it has no pretensions - its an upmarket whoremongers hotel plain and simple. Everybody is there for the same thing and nobody looks out of place. I was having dinner there one night with a well to do LB friend of mine and there was a hooker wearing a micro spray on red dress, black stockings which finished below the skirt line and over the knee high heel boots who was having dinner with her beloved in the restaurant. Nobody batted an eye lid. Imagine that happening in the Majetsic Grande !!

Rooms are good, forget the construction its a non issue - the rooms at the back block are not completed but my room last time overlooked them and I heard nothing in the 2 days and nights I was there.

By the way the hotel is newly built and I have seen no cockroaches. The picture I showed earlier really does not do the room justice - it is very spacious and the bathrooms well fitted.

      Cheers

        Mardhi,
        many thanks!
i especially liked hearing that it actually is new AND that the bathrooms are 'well-fitted'. ;-)
i like to 'spoil' myself a bit when in los - since 4stars there is cheaper than 2 stars here!!
but i agree that much of the luxury the majestic grande offers is pretty much wasted on me. give me a big clean modern bathroom and a big clean firm bed and i can be pretty much set for satisfaction. so
i'll book my first three nights at the dynasty grande and then - we'll see what's what.
if my body can uncramp from the 24 hour journey i expect to hit big dog's before dark on the 3rd and will have an extra cold singha on standby for you - if stogie hasn't chugged it while we wait.

          Thaibound -
what email are you using for Maj suites?
I always get a reply from Arnand over night.
I just changed my booking back to the Maj Grande, 2600bt on Asia rooms is cheaper than the 2700 from The suites.
Will be there in 10 days!!

            Re: Dynasty Grande Inn

I have just arrived back from Thailand after spending 2 weeks in Pattaya and 1 week in Bangkok. Have been visiting Thailand since 1976 when I was 19yo...so it is fair to say that I know my way 'round a bit . I stayed at the Dynasty in Grande in Bangkok...a first time for me. Room was excellent value at 1800 BAHT. Safe in room (Though not big enough to take a laptop) large bed, broadband in room, wireless in the lobby-restaurant, great bathroom ( though of the 2 rooms I stayed in one of the bathrooms was better than the other one) That rate allows you to bring one partner back for the night. Each additional partner above that one is 500 BAHT per person. They do check ID's ( if your partner has no ID they don't stay)..a great idea and I support it 100%.
There is some construction in the vicinity with new apartment buildings going up. However I had no problems at all regards noise or views in the 2 rooms I stayed in. I am sure if you had any problems regarding your room the staff would gladly move you, depending on availability. All the staff are very friendly without being "annoying" and providing your partner shows their ID they couldn't care less who you bring back. Though I did get a bit of a smile when I bought 4 girls back for one evening......

Great new hotel and I recomend it 100%...just email them to make a reservation and get a quote.

(rob69in @ Apr. 19 2006,17:03) Whats this "walk of shame" business??

These are real people with feelings, even if it is on cash / business footing. The LOS is one of the most 3rd gender tolerant places I have ever been. Most LB's are far more femanine & attractive than the majority of the western women out there. You should be more than happy to walk about with them. There will be plenty of stares, SO WHAT!! Who's having fun tonight, probably not them.

                  Enjoy, don't hide.

MAYBE he's just referring to the 'okay, yes, i PAY to get laid'  shame, not so much any ladyboy-specific shame?
                  i dunno.
either way, once you mellow into LOS it don't mean nothing, cause it is ALL up to you!
                  enjoy enjoy enjoy
When some people use that (IMO demeaning) term "walk of shame", they are specifically referring to walking out of Nana Plaza, where it narrows down at the entrance with the beer bars on both sides and the seats on the rails full of farang who are watching most everyone who exits or enters NEP.  The way I look at it, if you don't have the balls to be seen walking next to a ladyboy, preferably holding her hand, you don't deserve to enjoy the pleasures of her company in the bedroom or anywhere else.

                    Okay guys ....
after reading this thread twice and doing my own research here in the great white north, I have come to this conclusion....

                    I am so frickin lost
Too many choices I have narrowed it down to a few.

I have read alot about the majestic and dynasty from your above posts.

but how about these for price, having a nice clean feel and look and being LB and close to the action?

The following all seem to range from 50-90 USD:

                    Grand President
                    DMa Pavilion Hotel
                    Holiday Inn Silom Bangkok
                    Rembrandt Hotel
                    President Solitaire
                    Chateau De Bangkok By Sofitel

                    Thanks for any input .

I find the hotel search alot dam harder than the airfare, which is all booked

                    • From my experience, I've known most of the people I've met on the board to stay at the Majestic Grande, Dynasty Grand Inn, or the President Solitaire. All of those should be in the $50-$99 price range. As for the other hotels you mentioned, I've heard nothing about them so I don't suspect they are popular hotels with the punters, maybe due to their location? I'm not sure. But I guess I would recommend looking at the 3 I mentioned first and see if they fit the bill.

Blimey talk about chinese whispers - the 'walk of shame' refers to taking a hooker back through your hotel lobby - not walking out of Nana Plaza - dont forget everybody is there for the same thing in Nana, wheras in the hotel lobby you have no idea who is going to be there as you walk back, hence the term the 'walk of shame'. Dont forget there are many many places to pick up a hooker in Bangkok or anywhere in Thailand.

Hilton - there used to a Hilton on Wireless road but its know managed by Raffles and is called I think the Swissotel Nai Lert Park. There is a Conrad on Wireless which is part of All Seasons Place a big office complex and mall - that is a very nice hotel.

The new Hilton is down on the River and on the wrong side of the river as well - I would not even consider it - it would take you anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours to get to Nana, averaging around an hour in a taxi.

Sheraton Grande is WAY better than the westin - they are opposit each other at Suk Soi 19 - the only redeeming feature of the Westin for a fast food junkie like yourself DP is the McDonalds on the ground floor. The rooms whilst OK are nothing great and they are by 5* standards very small - certainly smaller than the new Dynasty Grande as an example. The hotel has a funny feel to it I find and I think its way overpriced for what it is - basically it was a shoddy 3* hotel and then was acquired by the people who own the Sheraton and they upgraded it. But its not a real 5* hotel in any shape or form and the pool area is crap.

The Sheraton Grande is a nice hotel but its now very expensive - typically around US$200 night and its not in the same league as other US$200 hotels such as the Four Seasons or Hyatt. Rooms though are very nice and very spacious. Has a nightclub in the hotel as well and some rooms have a butler service to bring you tea and coffee free of charge (or at least used to). Pool area is also very nice. basically it was newly built just before the '97 crash and everything was done properly for a 5*deluxe hotel.

I used to stay a lot at the Sheraton before moving here but that was when it was charging US$75 night back about 7 years ago - those days are long gone and I just cant seem to justify spending that much money on a hotel that used to be 30% of its current price.

                                Hope this helps.
                                Cheers
