if this sounds dumb just bear with me ...
Is there an angle that maybe LB would like better hotels with better views, etc, so they try harder. I mean wouldn't these suggest them bigger tips afterwards cause this guy is a spender. And maybe this is my own kink, like many guys like GFE, I found the more romantic setting exciting myself ....
It's been suggested that girls will ask what hotel you are staying at to gauge the size of your wallet. We all know this is bullocks because I stay at the Dynasty but I'm a big spender.

I don't think that staying in a nicer hotel will make them try harder, but it might impress them a bit to get out of the slummy rooms (i.e. Dynasty) that they are used to. Several of the LBs on my trip remarked about the time they went with so and so at the Sheraton/Westin/Hilton/etc...

I just tell em' that biting a pillow at the Shertaon is gonna be just like biting a pillow at the Dynasty!

The Nana hotel is just alright for ladyboys, when you take only one to your room and that ladyboy must have an I.D. card with him. Ladyboys without a I.D. card are not allowed in the Nana hotel and also 2 ladyboys, even if they both have I.D. cards with them are not allowed.
These I think are now the official rules for the security staff.
You might still be able to bend these rules, depending on the staff that is present on the night you try this, but I saw them enforced and that's why I will try the Dynasty Inn on my next holiday. I have stayed at the Nana hotel many times before and even had some 3somes with 2 ladyboys there, but they are getting more and more anti-ladyboy now, which really pisses me off.

A friend of mine went to BKK 4 years ago and told me that I should avoid these 5 stars bec. you can't get escorts upstairs ... which dispointed me a bit bec. I can afford them (by saving in other areas, no I am not loaded) and I do like the "ambiance".
It's like why not just jack off to ATS but fly all the way there. I think this stuffs matters. I rather bring myself a case of ramen noodle and sleep (not really sleep) in Banyan Tree holding my LT watching the sun rise.
It's all a big illusion anyway, why not going all the way.

Regarding hotels, I've heard that the more you pay the more they don't care. I can't confirm this in BKK, but in Phuket I stayed at the Hilton Arcadia Resort and I had no problems. Some of the bellboys and hotel staff gave me smirks, as I'm sure they do not get a lot of ladyboys running around (its mostly young families and older couples). I don't think that the Marriot in Nana has any problems with companions, but you should double-check.

Do you like nostalgia? Are you a vet from the Viet Nam era?
Here are some little tidbits about a few of the hotels around Sukhumvit.
The infamous Vietnam era  "US Army R&R Hotel" ( for you nostalgic Vietnam vets ) is now the 'mid level' Ambassador Hotel on Sukhumvit.

The 'old' BOQ / BEQs ( Bachelor Officer Quarters / Bachelor Enlisted Quarters ) are now the Windsor Hotel on 'Suk' Soi 20 and the Rajah Hotel on 'Suk' Soi 4.

The Rajah is, I think, not even inhabitable now. Heard they are down to one floor with rooms available. This from an expat friend. I also heard that the hotel is now undergoing complete rennovation and is thus closed at this time. I would see this seedy looking old place when walking on Soi 4 and wonder what it's story was. There is a popular massage place in the front of it. Annie€™s Sauna & Massage. If anyone has been to Annie's lately, they may have more accurate info on the current state of the historic Rajah Hotel.

I was told by a long time Thailand traveler, and enigmatic former member of the forum that the Grace Hotel was an R&R hotel for officers during the Viet Nam era. The Crown on soi 6 was an R&R hotel for NCOs, and way down off Soi 22, not far from Washington Square, is The 27 Hotel, which today has worn but comfortable rooms including a/c and hbo on the telly for 320 baht per night, was an R&R hotel for enlisted men bak then, spent most of the 1980s as a brothel, but for the past ten or so years has just been a hotel for the cost conscious traveler.

                  That would be interested
I'm not a VietVet and I was a teenager when the VN war was in the ending, so I "lived" the whole thing watching those few images coming from VN on a B+W TV at home, and listening to Bob Dylan's and others' songs of protest against the war,the CIA plots and then the Watergate and so on....
It was another era but for many of us here it's the era that has marked their youth, so it would be interesting to see pictures of Nana and Patpong taken in the late 60's and early 70's

Has anyone stayed at either the Royal Ivory or the Zenith Sukhumvit (SP)???

If so, do the charge a joiner fee and are they LB friendly.

The prices are reasonable and the rooms look nice.

                      Thanks,

                          Hello Stefano,

My information could be wrong? - but as far as I know the Asia Hotel is THE short time hotel for Japanese businessmen in Bangkok.

To borrow from Ozzie  'Is the pope catholic? - You could take a goat to your room and they probably would not blink an eye.'

There is NO PROBLEM to take a girl or ladyboy into your room in about 95% of the hotels in Bangkok.  Not sure about Popes or goats I must admit!

The only thing is a small percentage of hotels will try to charge a 'joiner fee'. The charge for taking 'guest' up to a room when you have booked only for one person.
Most hotels do not do this - certainly I would be very surprised if the Asia Hotel does!  You can try to e-mail them and ask if they charge a 'joiner fee?' and see what they reply.

The only thing is you might get disturbed by the 'traffic' going in and out of the hotel!

                            Friends,
I am travelling to BKK on 20th March'06. I will be staying at Grand majestic at Soi 2. I have heard that it is a LB friendly hotel.
I request fellow mongers, who have stayed at this hotel, to share some of their experiences about this hotel (LB friendliness, quality of rooms, sevrvice etc).
I will sincerely appreciate any guidance from the veterans.
                            Cheers!!

Stayed there and brought in a number of LBs. When I entered with them, no problem, didn´t even ask for ID. When they came alone to my room, no problem either. Excellent hotel, less than a 5 minute walk from Nana. I was there when it first opened and MAY have been the first to bring in a LB...

Stayed there this January and made a report then. This is a great hotel and absolutely no problem with guests. Great rooms, pool, restaurants etc. If you book via the majestic suites you can get a room rate of 2700 bt. - an absolute bargain.
seriously pig headed, arrogant, double standard smart ass poster!
