MBK food court  average for 2 dishes pork nuckle and rice  and a hoi taud fried  mussels in egg  batter...
Oh my God. I'm going back to England!

Donnnnny - I agree with you about The Dynasty and Nana Hotel...

Two years ago I would have said 'fine.' Last year  - 'maybe if all else fails', but these days the two hotels have passed their 'sell buy' date!

For a little bit more you can make a huge leap in standards. I also believe that the sex is better in a nicer hotel!

Thats why my vote goes for Majestic Grande first and Dynasty GRANDE second.

Yup... I have never denied this!

Yesterday for lunch Gif and I called in for pizza. Last night after she had left for Roiet for a couple of days I called in for KFC.

Today I had a tin of Heinz baked beans with sausages (thanks to Saint Jelly bean!) on toast.

Later tonight after a nap I'll be enjoying an Indian take-away from my favourite place near Asok BTS station.

That Thai food is for when you are in prison or accepting a bet!

Totally agree with the hotel options in the Nana area.

I stopped using the Nana Plaza hotel years ago, & moved to the Majesric suites, only 100-200baht more, service & quality uncomparable.

I have only stayed in the Dynasty once & didn't stay there again! Enough said.

I checked the Dynasty Grande out on my last trip, if they keep the promotional price then its well worth it. Don't know about the service i have never stayed there.

You pays your money & takes your chance. This isn't a rehearsal do it now, it's no good looking back when it's a lover & wishing.... ITS TOO LATE.

My recent 30-day trip cost approx $5000 USD...including air and hotels (DP take note: EVA Air $750 from SFO to BKK including trip insurance)...

That cost also included 2 trips to Pattaya and air fare for 2 to Phuket...Yes I took sand to the beach...

As an aside, stayed at the Dynasty Grande in BKK...for 1800 bht night...Very nice large rooms with king bed and very friendly staff...food not bad either...I'll definitely stay there again for that price...

6,666.66 (recurring) per day... including flights!

For a month I'd say that what you did beats going on a cruise and probably at a fraction of the cost!

A really good spot on topic here, my first two trips were business related, so most, not all obviously, expenses taken care of. I stayed at the JW Marriott both times, experienced no problems with guests, remarkably short "walk of shame", mostly thru bypassing lobby via side entrance and scooting behind the downstairs lobby bar.
I joined this site 2-3 moths prior to first trip to get my much needed travelinfo re Nana, etc, and was at first curious as to the amount of nitpicking vis a vis prices, how much to pay, cost of beer etc......., coming from east coast of , i found all prices scandalously low, even the hotel, now if i may say, i have been fortunate for the last 30 years to travel, vacationwise, quite a bit, and while european and most u.s. cities hotels are quite a hit, i usually make up on saving my wallet a traumatic event by eating in pubs and hitting the neighborhood bars as well, all in all nothing in bkk i found expensive, nowhere near food or hotel prices in the abovementioned places, even eating everyday in the marriott's restaurants, which are pricey, IMHO, all in all, in going back this august, my 3rd trip, out of my own pocket too, I'm staying at the same hotel and as for the amount of money I'm gonna be budgeting for, those thoughts quite frankly go right out of my mind while sitting on my stool at Big Dogs, at 5-7ish watching the greatest show on earth , actually for two weeks, i figure eveything included will cost about$4,500.00
Life is short. Live it well.

I swear to God I don't know when you guys fly out...I've never seen tickets in the summer (trust me, I've looked!) for anything less than $1,000...especially now. With all the fuel surcharges and fair increases, an average of 7% this year over last year, I don't know how you can find these deals. Coming in late August the best I could find was Delta at $1,017...I guess I could have gone with China Air for a litle over $900 but it had stops in fuckin Timbuktu or something like that... Oh yeah, and its China Air...

The JW Marriott in Bangkok low? Hmm...I don't know...but the cheapest room I could get there was $140 USD...

If I go mid-range, thats what I spend in a day - everything included!!!

But I just booked a flight on PI Air...SFO (leaves 10:00 pm on 8/30) to Guam (30 min layover...no plane change)..

Guam to Manila (change planes)...Manila to BKK...Arrive BKK 1:00 pm on 9/1...BKK is plus 14 hours from SFO....

Return: Bkk to Manila....Manila to SFO...

Total cost inlcuding taxes and trip insurance $876 USD....

That gives me an extra $141 for Babes...or pays for 3 nights at the Dynasty Grande....

I use a site called Booking Buddy...Not a ticketing site...just provides links to all the major booking sites
to allow you to compare prices and flights....
