Doc, Since you neeed to be back in less than 60 days for the wedding there are two *easy* chocies.
1) Get the 60 day visa. Disguise your voice and smile. Don't mention you were the guy calling yesterday. This is if you want to soend the entire 6-7 weks in Thailand.
2) Just fly there without a visa and break up your trip with a week in Bali.

I did try to change my voice and ask about shopping for retirement home. Guy said NO....your not old enough
There are to many options just get the 60 day tourist visa take the girl friend back to the PI for a few weeks then get the tourist visa renewed for another 60 days.
(stogie bear @ Jul. 23 2007,12:32) Still - you can still fly out here and get a 'Visa On Arrival" and that's good for 30 days. But you'll have to do a 'border run for the next 60 days and then leave for 90 days!
if i fly last minute and get the 'visa on arrival' would i need to make a border run after 30 days and again after 60 in order to stay in los 90 days? or will just the one border run get me a 60 day extension?
and then is my banishment equal to the length of my stay, so if i'm in LOS for 60-65 days before i come home, i can return in 65 days -- or would i have to wait the full 90?
sorry to piggyback your thread -- and thanks for the advice -- it looks like i'm going to be travelling with practically *no* notice next trip over -- maybe last trip before the "move" if all goes well....
The border run will get you an additional 30 days only... After that you'll have to do a second border run which will top out your allowance for the 180 day period.
You can be in the Kingdom for any 90 days during the 180 day period which commences from your first date of arrival.
And don't forget you'll need to have an onward bound air ticket (an 'E' ticket printout from your computer will do) to be allowed back in the country. These tickets are not verified but should be (or at least look) authentic!
Actually it's unlikely that you'll be stopped from re-entering the kingdom if you don't have a ticket but you may not get the full 30 days. Probably 7 or 15 days.
That is if they check which the seem to be doing only randomly and not for everyone. Also once you have done your 90 days using your entry permit quota you are only dissallowed another entry permit for 90 days that does not mean you cannot get a tourist visa etc and return within that 90 days.

Dude,
Just Remember to sort out the Visa in Advance or Your Last Minute Trip will be like Mine
I could be in LOS now but had to Delay it 1 week...Good Luck
Reading Thaivisa a lot depends on what border crossing you use on what they ask for and if you can get a 60 day tourist visa. Penang seems to be the port of easy visa at present. You will get confused reading Thaivisa everybody there has their own experience as well as half baked info.
Go to the official Thai web site on visas read the requirements and follow them, seems to be the easiest way to do business.

thanks, Stogie
90 out of 180...that oughta do me for my next visit, during which i want to finally hit a few other spots on the left side of the pacific anyway...
those east coast girls are hip, i really love the styles they wear and the southern girls, with the way they talk, really knock me out when i'm down there...

this would be my fifth trip to the heaven of the LOS and i never plan in advance -- beyond a roundtrip ticket and a hotel for the first 3 nights, i let it all go with the flow.
i think a problem would only arise if i wanted to stay *more* than 30 days -- anything shorter than that and the simple, easy, no planning required, tourist visa is the best way to go.
*BUT*
if you/me/anyone *does* want to stay longer than 30 days, or more than 90 out of 180 days, then i absolutely agree -- plan ahead.
it may not be as much fun as gathering that "list" of ladyboys you fully intend to fuck but just don't get around to because you meet so many you never heard of before ...but if you want more than 30 straight days of insane fun, some planning would be a very good thing...it just sounds like a major and confusing pain in the
good luck. we'll trade stories when i bump into you at guess or 131...
Well to Answer Your Question, Let me say I probably did not even need the expense or trouble of getting the multi entry visa. Plus it delayed LOS for 1 week and I may never really need to use it but it made me feel better less 200 USD
