It is the fault of the fucking religious people. Sane people cannot escape them, even in Thailand.

i for one am not in the slightest bit worried by this news from pattaya.the explicit shows really bore the crap out of me, they are total turn off when it comes to sex. some old bag shooting ping pong balls from her cunt while trying to hide streach marks from the 10 or so kidds she has bore
.No i prefer to go to a gogo bar and watch bikini clad hotties with sexy bikini's and use my imagination as to whats underneath.
having said this if you know thailand you will know that the idol thret's of 60 day closures is just a set up for the press and media, after a few days of" cracking down ", all will return to normal, and the fat ugly girls will all get there jobs back shooting darts and bananas at tourists
just a sex tourist looking for hot fun

Police Colonel Sutin, the Superintendent of Pattaya Police along with Khun Ronagit, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, chaired this Friday Morning Meeting attended by 360 staff members of Beer Bars and Go-Go Bars operating here in Pattaya. They were told that the Police and Pattaya Administration will no longer tolerate explicit shows and nakedness in the bars of Pattaya and any establishment found to be disregarding these orders will face a minimum of a 60 day closure order and even the revocation of entertainment and liquor licenses. It is thought that a Bar Crackdown will shortly follow to ensure that bars are following these newly enforced regulations
Displays of nudity have been banned in Thailand for a very long time  -  thanks to those nice Christian missionaries that showed up around 150 years ago.

Before them displaying naked breasts in public was not unusual in rural Thailand.

Anyway the members of this forum are not interested in girls but in ladyboys.  There is nothing in Thai law  (that I am aware of) that prevents ladyboys from displaying their chests in public

More bright moves by the interim gov't from Bangkok Post, June 19, 2007.

Parliament orders sober zones BKK Post

                        Parliament orders sober-zones

                        Bangkok Post

The National Legislative Assembly has suddenly proposed a total ban on drinking alcohol at temples, hospitals, places of medical services, drug stores, public offices and educational institutions - to be expanded later.

Spokesman Tuang Anthacha of the ad-hoc NLA committee which passed the proposal said the selective ban could be expanded at any time by "relevant ministers" or by a new Alcohol Control Policy Committee ordered by the new law.

Under the draft bill, the alcohol consumption ban would not extend to private residences, clubs or parties.

A 31-member panel was formed to deliberate the cabinet-sponsored bill after the NLA on March 29 approved it in principle.

The designation of alcohol-free zones is the first aspect of the controversial bill to pass deliberation by the NLA.

The committee yesterday concluded Section 28 which bars all marketing activities of alcohol products, ranging from free samples, price cuts, free gifts and lucky draws to the redemption of product packagings.

The committee also added a ban on tie-in sales to Section 28.

The panel agreed to Section 25 whereby alcohol manufacturers and importers must put health warnings on product packaging. The current health warnings only indicate that alcohol consumption hinders driving ability.

Any violators of Section 25 would face a one-year jail term or a maximum of a 100,000 baht fine or both. The fine has been raised from 20,000 baht in the government-approved draft.

Mr Tuang said there are three issues left in the draft bill's deliberation - the make-up and authority of the liquor product-related policy committee, an alcohol control committee, and a total ban on alcohol advertising, which is the most controversial aspect of the bill.

The bill, passed by the cabinet in March, aims to reduce alcoholic beverage consumption. It also raises the minimum age for buying alcohol from 18 to 20.

I guess the word 'hinders' has a totally different meaning in Thai than it does in English.

Judging by the numbers of Thai's of all ages I have seen get drunk and then get on motor bikes

I also like the bit where they are going to raise the minimum age from 18 to 20.
Usually if you want some more whiskey you just send one of the kids to get it on a motor bike.

Immigration Police Arrest Uzbekistani Prostitutes Again.

At around 3:30am on Thursday Immigration police led by Colonel Itipon swooped on Walking Street and rounded up 22 Uzbekistani nationals, all of them female, and took them back to the Immigration offices in Jomtien to be charged with engaging in prostitution.
Ten of the Uzbekistani women were found to have expired passports, and these ladies of easy virtue will be locked up before being deported. The remaining dozen, whose passports and visas were all in order, were fined, slapped on the wrist and told to go forth and not spend their evenings lying on their backs as this can cause substantial weight gain.
