  • I need a recording studio (or similar.)

Does anyone here know of a recording studio or room I can use to record the sound of 5 or 6 blokes talking.

I want the quality to be excellent as I'm preparing to make our first audio podcast for the forums.

Basically it'll be about 3 hours of selected board members sitting around yakking on about ladyboys or anything.

Should be hilarious and fun and not at all educational!

All I need is the facilities to record it... I can edit it and do the rest. (I will pay top dollar for a good place...)

Kind of like Howard Stern for LB lovers!

If the first one is a hit then we'll make it a regular feature...

    Cheers...

I like the idea, you have had a lot of them lately. Must have had time to think on that recent trip.

I like this one the best. Do you actually need a studio to get good enough quality for a podcast. Would think a decent mic or two?

Good luck hope it materialises quick.

SB, does it need to be in a certain country or not?
      Particular city or region?
I have something in mind, so let me know

Well, it has to be in or near to Bangkok really, but I may do another one in the UK later this year if the first one takes off.

Just get a few mikes and a mixer... no need for anything high end... it's only voice.

A frequently used and very effective cheat for a proper recording studio is a walk-in closet with a lot of clothes in it. It's a set up that I often used when I was in broadcasting in a prior life and we had do pieces on the fly that had a studio sound to them. The deadening effect of the fabric is remarkably close to a professionally soundproofed studio, certainly close enough for recording a podcast.

Now I can go off and entertain myself with images of a bunch of you guys sitting in a closet talking to each other.....

I also don't think that you need a recording studio for a podcast. Have been listening to a writer's podcast from back home and he did it in his kitchen. Sounds like an unnecessary expense.

I'm looking around for a cheap mixer and about three microphones!

Hopefully that will create decent audio...

Are you proposing to use your PC as a recorder ?

I thought this sounded like a reasonable option...

Just add a couple of microphones and you're up and running.

                      Cheers

It really doesnt take much to make a decent podcast. The key is really a halfway decent mike. For sort of a round table discussion this may be the perfect option

really nice quality, cheap, and on one of its three settings it is a 360 degree pattern. So just put it on the middle of the table, set your levels and your there.

                            That looks perfect!

Thanks. I'll see if I can get one in the UK.

                            Thanks for the link.

For what it's worth, I think that the Snowball would be your best choice, too. It is generally accepted by podcasters as the best overall mike for digital voice recording. I've used one for over a year and am very happy with mine.
