I have a little background in this & agree with the guys above for the most part. Do it in your, or somebody's, quiet home where there is little street or other ambient noise. The key is, as mentioned, deadening the sound reflections with "walls" of fabric (movers' blankets are excellent) defining the "studio" perimeter & having separate mics for each guest with a narrow(cardioid) pick up pattern, I disagree with the suggestion for a 360 degree pattern mic unless the you want the sound to be like a teleconference.
It would also help to have a multi channel mixer not used with an automatic gain but learn to ride the levels manually.
Does Chatauchak have good deals on stuff like this? Recording right into your pc is key so check the mixer has a usb/firewire output.
