This is my 4th trip also (this year). I just want to keep on coming back.
Eh, i´m supposed to be in Bkk Dec. 4th.
      Doesnt´t look too good though.
Hope you'll be alright 7. Just read on China Airlines site that they are planning for normal service as of 3 december, so you may just be fine :-) hope you won't have to deal with to heavy of a backlog of stranded passengers.

Talks have begun as police/army now have mandate, should be solved quickly:

Fingers crossed, any chance you'll hit Phuket?

(bkkafterdark @ Nov. 28 2008,17:12) Not been reading through all the threads but if i was only a few days from coming to thailand as some the reports in the forum i would change flight to singapore or KL, and make my way from there to hadyai or phuket, you can then get anywhere in thailand by bus or train. It may take additional day of travel but the cost would be minimal.

There are direct flights from Singapore to Phuket, not sure about KL though but i would just get a bus just in case phuket airport is closed.

        Hope everyone gets here safely.

Quite difficult to fly through Singapore / KL as most flights have been re-routed through those airports so hardly any availability.

I found a last minute flight through Hong Kong to Phuket. Local flight Phuket to Patts is good option accordingly as suggested above. I have already lost to many days of hols, so staying in Phuket. Good alternative , but after month of researching and planning I was hoping to hit BKK/Patts for my first visit to LOS and meet some BMs'

This will be over very soon one way or another. Perhaps Somchai's resignation? Perhaps a coup? Let's hope that bloodshed at the airport is avoided.

It will certainly be over by Dec 5th, His Majesty The King's birthday.

Mmmm I think the airport is going to be closed for a few more days just yet, even if the protestors were dispersed tonight by the riot police who are about to move in, what sort of state is that terminal building going to be in with those many thousands of protestors shacked up in there cooking, sleeping and even holding pop concerts and various other forms of entertainment.
Not to mention the damage that shall be caused by the impending riot brigade.
I'm in Phuket and have wrote off the chance of flying back to Bangkok within the next week. I have heard from a travel agent that I can just turn up at Phuket airport & buy a ticket from Thai airlines on a first come first served basis for a flight to U-Tapao, 20 Odd miles from Pattaya.

(thaibound @ Nov. 27 2008,03:49) with regard to other entry points to thailand -- do those of you either on the ground or 'in the know' imagine that these PAD protesters will limit themselves to bkk because it's their main source of support (royalists, urban middle class, businessmen, etc) or do you suspect they'll spread out to shut down airports in koh samui, phuket, pattaya, etc as well?
i'd hate to book around bkk (costing me more time, money and trouble) only to be foiled anyway.
i'm gonna hate not making it back for NYE if it comes to that...
my 'Guess' is that Chiang Mai airport should be 'safe', but all others are at risk. They closed down Phuket, Krabi and Surat Thani briefly a month ago.

When you coming to town ?
hey snick, i had hoped to be in bkk for NYE, but flying thru chiang mai with the current state of unrest doesn't appeal to me. gonna breathe deep a couple weeks, see what develops and stay ready for a last-minute booking. maybe i'll hit bali first if i find myself unable to delay the urge to escape farangland. then maybe hop a pirate ship over to koh samui, snorkel to the mainland, and hitchhike up the coast to patts. cause i need me some ladyboys.

I really hope it is over by the 5th cause I am flying there on that day. I would really hate to miss my date with a very cute ladyboy. Dont those PAD protestors know that we also have needs and urges to fulfill?

If necessary I'm returning to The Land of Frowns via Singapore / Cambodia next weekend (if I can get a refund on my booked flight).  Probably need a week chilling out (warming up) in Sinoukville before I face the harem in BKK/Pattaya though

Could take the train up from Sing/KL via Butterworth .. Hat Yai, I suppose.  And warm up in Hua Hin

Good luck to all you 'stuckees'
