You'd have to ask Mardhi! It's evident to me that he is giving Jay all kinds of helpful advice and it's also evident to me that without his input these girls would be clueless (as all Thais are) about what farangs want when they go out at night. Hopefully the girls (especially Jay) are listening and acting on the feedback they are getting.

But even if they do listen seriously it's all for naught if this ends up just being an AsianTS.com playground! They have to get OUT of the bar and promote it every night.

Well, it's true... I didn't go to the same trouble when Temptations opened up, did I?

I was chatting to a forum reader who lives here last night in The Guess Bar and he said he'd been waiting 10 years for this bar to open up!

Well - I've only been waiting for 5 years, but I feel the same as he does... A nice place to actually chill out and relax in was the best news I have had about this scene in a long while.

Also - there's an upside for us when we support a bar like this... It's great for shoots and we can harvest talent for the site from there!

Probably the easiest way to answer this is as a customer who is sleeping with the owner of the bar. Jay has no outside shareholders - she owns it 100% - she has no minority interests (despite plenty of offers from Thai and farang).

Why are some of us so keen to help her make it a success ?- probably because she took the time to ask many of us what we wanted and because many of us who are living in Thailand are bored rigid of the existing bar offering. It also helps that Jay has such a nice personality that everyone wants to help her.

How has she done it? Simple really - she did not pay any key money for the premises, as she found a unit where the leaseholder was behind on the rent and she sold the concept to the owner that what he needs is a bar that pays the rent on time and also actually delivers some volume into the ST hotel he owns. He agreed and kicked out the old tenant. The bar was already airconditioned so she just had to decorate it and make the bar area. Put in some sofas and a wooden floor and hey presto you have Guess Bar. I can assure you and anyone else that she has done this whole thing for a remarkably low price. Is she flush with cash ? the answer is no she is not - she is watching every penny at the moment which is why she has not put in the mirrors as she wants to see how things are going and spend money out once it comes in (dont forget she has a accounting background).

Has she much to learn - for sure she has - Stogie mentioned some good ideas and so have plenty of other guys who have stopped by and spoken to her in the bar. She is almost on idea overload at the moment.

I agree I would be doing this also to get new punters in the door. Some might not come down straight away but at least will know of the bars existence and I am sure will venture down to have a look at some point.

i wouldnt stay outside nana sponsoring the bar...can be to dangerous to piss off smn in nana.
i think the way the bar is sponsored now is good enough its just a matter of time (i knew the bar from internet and im going there almost every day).
the girls working in the bar make the difference too, i like the attitude of Jay and her souver faire.
i like very much her sister Jane, i think she has gorgeous body and brilliant personality.
i dont think the way the bar is now can fit the japanese taste imho.
my too cents, Jay can use the ladyboy network (the most powerful network i ever saw) and she can agree to pay the quota of lady drink every time a lb bring a costumer in the bar.
so for example if a lb get out from obsession with a customer and her customer ask her where to go to have a chat a drink something....Guess what she can answer??

I would think that the Japanese would be a good target market. Many in Cascades and Obsessions. Just so long as the girls understand that farang don't underpay - Japs overpay.
