(stogie bear @ Nov. 26 2006,11:32) Just stay at home and have a wank...
Well, I made my point and was essentially told to fuck off, so I will.

The attitude of "everybody's doing it, so we will too" isn't exactly a legitimate justification.

The cameras and video survelliance is actually one of the biggest reasons I don't go to Nana or Pat Pong (that and the pushy, over-bearing staff in those places).

So you're right, I probably will stay home and have a wank. Which means no bar-fine or drink sales for Jay. I'm sure she'll have plenty of business and I won't be missed.

You guys seem to have an attitude of "she is our friend so this is OUR bar, so we'll do as we goddamn please in it, and fuck off to anyone who has a different opinion". That's all well and good, but I wonder if Jay would totally agree with you on that...

(stogie bear @ Nov. 26 2006,16:29) Whilst I can appreciate most sane minded people would rather NOT have their pics splattered all over the internet groping a ladyboy I have yet to see any incriminating pics on this forum that show people in that situation...

Also... bad PR? Hey - This new bar has nothing to do with me. I just like going there. So if you want to whine about PR then go to the bar and talk to the owners.

I'll take my camera on the nights that Jay says it's OK which I would imagine will be opening night and special occasions.

Wear a hood if you come on these nights in case you accidently get snapped and end up on my hard drive!
You're right, nobody's had their picture splashed all over the net, YET, but you're not my best bud, I don't know you, and you can't guarantee me 100% it'll always be that way. So it's up to me to protect my own privacy (rather than trust a stranger with it).

If Jay wants PR, then she could paint "Guess Bar" on the wall somewhere and ask that all pics be taken in front of that logo. It's a reasonable compromise and a bit more "customer-friendly" than "wear a hood you fucking whiner".

Most clubs (and that goes for normal discos too) don't allow photography inside. They know that most people are uncomfortable with being caught on someone else's camera and they also don't want rival clubs sending people in to steal ideas for their light shows and decor. Plus a lot of flash photography kind of disrupts the "atmosphere".

Try to take some photos in Route 66 in RCA or some big Los Angeles disco, and you'll quickly find security coming around to ask you to put the camera away (I know, because this happened to me already).

It's a reason why many many people don't go to Nana and the shitpits and your grievance is recognised and felt by a lot of people reading here.

It's not 'my bar' and I was careful to ask the owner if it would be alright to bring a camera to the 'soft opening' last week. She was more than happy to permit it and luckily for this forum and it's readers we got some nice ones of the bar and the girls.

The people of this forum who have mad an effort to go and support this new bar SHOULD feel proud of themselves because it's here that the bar got it's kick start and it is here where a lot of people will find out for the first time that their IS a civilised option to the shitpits.

If you decide that the risk of having your photo taken or being caught on film is too high for you then that's fine. But you are missing out.

Some of us have families to consider, others don't want something coming back to haunt them when they form their exploratory committee for their US presidential run ( ).

I know I'm missing out... , but for me, is better than " , you're on Candid Camera!"

: I am a rookie to this forum ,and unfortunately cannot be part of the bangkok LB scene, living 12000 kms away ,I have been following the posts on the Guess bar and would like to offer the following comments
It is probobly a good thing the new bar is away from the so called known nightlife areas ,as I think 99 % of visiters who are looking for LB will look on the internet first and do there homework and its only a 3 min walk from Nana Plaza ,also hopefully you wont get the sleeze hanging aroung outside

As for the cameras everywhere one goes now days there are cameras monitoring peoples movements so nowdays it's a fact of life and all the pics posted so far the customers  have either their faces blurred or only part of there bodies so i don't see it as being a problem
And lastly as for Jay and some of the negative comments about her past ,I hope she ignores these comments from these shallow people ,its great you have had the guts to achieve your dream I am sure it will be sucessful and look forward to having a drink  next time I am in Bangkok

              I must be missing something.

If you don't want any risk of a pic getting taken, then why not, like go the day after opening?

Opening of a bar is not really a big deal. Thre are probably a few hundred per day in Thailand that get opened (and closed).

Just to keep this in context - photo's were taken on the opening night and will be taken at this party on the 2nd December with the permission of the bar owner Jay. However on a regular night, I dont see this being an issue and the liklihood of someone whipping out a camera is miniscule at best. The regular daily uniforms have already been professionally photographed using models in a studio. So, rather than miss out on the fun, the easiest way for those uncomfortable with the slight risk of being photographed is to go to the bar on a regular day - its the same girls, similar uniforms, same drinks etc. The fundamental benefits of this location have not changed, its still discrete, has its own clean hotel 20m away and up a staircase and their are virtually no other customers in the other bars on that floor of the complex. All in all, its still by far the most discrete venue for LB's in Bangkok and probably Thailand. Plus its also the most nicely fitted out LB bar.

                Cheers

I bet that Mardhi and or Stogie are more than only customers
in this new bar. But it doesn't matter as long as the bar is good. And Mardhi is always polite. But please allow cameras only on special days.

                        On another level.......

Me, Squirly and Simon were in the London Trannyclub, Wayout the other week only to discover that Channel 4 were filming all night........even then the chances of anyone picking me out is still slim. Almost every week there someone filming something in there....

Dont fret the small stuff ....

i dont like the ideas of cameras either.

if no sensitivity will be practiced, please tell jay i wont attend.

but alas there is a solution.

maybe the photographers make a promise here that absolutely no photos with even slight resemblances of a guys look will appear. crop them out, blur them out. no recognizable body type even with blurred face.

all that said, but in fact i havent seen a guys photo on this site so i believe theyre not really interested?

but the biggest curiosity is stogie's attitude (response tone) when he's usually preaching nicer manners here.

i think its getting pc for everyone except the lord of the site.

A promise?? Aw, come on....don't be so naive. If you are on someone's hard drive, you are at risk.

I actually don't think anyone "officlally" associated with the site would do that anyway. But I won't be taking that chance....cameras come out, I'm off.

Far bigger risk is that half the worlds population owns a camera phone. If you want zero risk, don't visit any girlie bars!

I for one don't give a shit if someone snaps my pic but I'm an old ugly fella and it would do everyone who saw it an injustice...No Aint's paperbags for me...

But perhaps we would all look a little better and stay a little more sober as we made our Thai rounds if we thought we might have our picture snapped...

And I for one have an extremely difficult time understanding why anyone with a family (wife + children, etc.) would ever think about going to LOS and chasing ladyboys or GG's in the first place...just doesn't make any sense to me...Then again I suppose I'm from a different mold...
