To return to the Original Topic of this thread:

I have always valued TTChang's opinion, and I was surprised by his comments when he started this thread.

On my first visit to The Guess Bar in December 2006 & January 2007, during the afternoons, I bar-fined Jenny, Fern, Na (aka Natti), Joy, Mona, Beer, and Jane and, having used the ST Rooms above the Guess Bar with KC3 stalwarts, Liza, Nanci, Tina and brought all three down to The Guess Bar to have a drink and chat with the girls,

I never experienced any problem with any of The Guess Bar Girls then or on subsequent visits.

When The Guess Bar moved to the new location and I visited, they had added to their staff Nick (whom I had been with a few times when she was a freelancer) and Nok (Nong) whom I previously had had a session at Aspara Massage.

I was greeted like a long-lost friend by everyone I knew, and introduced by Beer and Joy to new talent like Moo, Vivian and Ploy (all of whom pressed their phone numbers into my hand at some point during my visit).

In June 2008, although I was mainly picking up talent at Obsessions and Cascades, I went to The Guess Bar a number of times and all the girls were friendly, but I only bar-fined Na (Natti) on that visit.

This was the trip that Josie from the Philippines joined me and we went for a drink at The Guess Bar on a couple of occasions.

All the girls were extremely friendly to Josie, especially Beer, Joy and Vivian who (as the three best English speakers) could converse for a few hours with Josie.

Yes, they gave Josie the impression that I was a known helicopter, but then, on the next trip, when Josie was with Sonia (ex-of La Bamba) she was told I was "An Airport" and none of this was said maliciously.

In September 2008 I was in The Guess Bar and took Joy to Stogie's Birthday Party and LT'd her overnight.

Again I had no problem with any of the other Guess girls, some of whom asked me if I had time for them and a few of whom telephoned me to see if I was interested in seeing them, but I explained that Josie from Manila was to join me or had joined and I was in Pattaya, and that seemed OK with everyone.

A few of the girls from Obsessions, Cascades and KC3 whom I saw before Josie arrived, knew from certain Guess Bar Girls and their own colleagues, that I was a butterfly, and told me so, but that never caused a problem.

On 5th January 2009 I hosted an afternoon get together at The Guess Bar because I wanted to see some BMs and the girls and I knew my workload would prevent me going out in the evening.

All the girls were friendly and a number phoned me during my stay to offer their services in the afternoon. Offers that I did not take up as I had contracted a rather nasty infection the week before in India (not an STD), the news of which I did not want circulating around The Guess Bar, or anywhere else, so I had a very celibate stay in Bangkok on that trip, which is why I did not post a Trip Report.

Now, as regular readers of my previous Trip Reports and various postings know, I am no youngster (in fact I think Ernesto and I are the oldest BMs); I am certainly not in the "hansum man" category; I do not speak Thai and I do not over-pay.

So why have I found that I have always experienced only friendliness and a good attitude from all the girls at The Guess Bar?

Maybe because Gong or Jay have given the girls instructions to be nice to me €“ Unlikely.

Maybe because I am very polite, respectful, and happy to treat them as equals €“ Possibly (But that would apply to TTChang too).

Maybe because I have been lucky and they only see me a couple of times a year €“ Possibly.

Or, maybe TTChang is right and the attitude of The Guess Bar Girls has changed.

Maybe it has changed because a large number of the Guess Bar Girls went onto a number of Web-based Escort Sites and perhaps because they are earning good money from introductions on those web-sites, that The Guess Bar has become just a meeting place for the girls to swap stories.

I am intrigued by TTChang's observation and comments, and, in early July, when I expect to be in Bangkok for a few days, I will visit The Guess Bar and experience the atmosphere, interrogate the girls, and report my findings.

I certainly hope to be able to report that by then Jay will have "got the message" and tightened up The Guess Bar's Act and removed TTChang's concerns.

I 'Guess' its time for me to chime in, since it was a lunchtime chat with TTChang and Thpon that started this thread.

My impression is that since Jay has left the bar the girls are effectively unmanaged and doing whatever they want..which is mostly playing pool with themselves.

A place like Guess Bar can make money three ways, Drinks, Pool, and Bar Fines. As it stands now I don't see any of these being effective.

When I go to Guess these days, no one asks me for a drink. In fact, I often have to ask someone to take my drink order, and often that is ignored. Lately I just walk to the bar OR DON'T DRINK.

As for Pool, half the time the girls are playing a mini-tournament among themselves and don't want to relinquish the table. If I am forceful I can interrupt them and play a game.

On Bar Fines, the girls know I'm not interested and don't try. But I have noticed less effort by them on trying to hook up with other patrons. Its not universal,often a guy comes in and 4 girls surround him trying to make a connecton; but sometimes a guy is ignored - and not always by his choice.

There is also an overall feeling of being 'tolerated'
, instead of 'welcomed' as customer service has plummeted.

These days I only go to Guess if I am meeting people there, I prefer to go to Cascades where I'm finding the atmosphere friendlier...and Pattaya when I have the time.

I hope Jay takes notice of what is going on and hires/assigns someone to manage the bar. Guess reminds me of Obsessions in Pattaya which went to hell when no one was managing things, but then shaped up nicely when Riga came on as Mamasan. I hope the same (eventually) happens to Guess.

Interesting reading.

I'm a "random guy" dropping by Guess Bar once on every LOS trip, which means 2-4 times a year. I have not noticed any change over the last year at least, and when I visited a couple of days ago I was swarmed by the girls, they begged for drinks, they massaged my dick, exposed their tits, made me rub their semi-erect dicks, called me "handsum man" and pretended to be upset when I only tipped the waiter and not the girls when I left for Nana.

To me this is just the way I like it and I hope they keep it this way. I was rather impressed with the quality of girls this time, but did not BF anyone since I had to save my power for someone else (the old mans curse!)

It would seem to me with the prices listed above if I were one of them, I'd never go LT as can make more money with 2 ST and it seems most I've asked did not want to go ST possibly for that very reason. I'm sure on a good night a few of them can get 2 or 3 ST in one night. But I agee with the overall idea behind the post.

Thanks for the advice.  This old falang, as you put it, doesn't think he's entitled to anything.  I'm an ordinary customer, who prefers to drink in Guess Bar than Hanrahan's, and is expressing an opinion.  I have barfined in Guess, but infrequently.

I also respect others' views and experiences, which suggest there's not too much wrong there if you want to seek/barfine/exit.

As Mardhi says, bars do not always function to their best when the owner/manager is absent.  If I felt the owner of Guess bar shared your views, I would go to drink in Big Dogs/Obsessions/Casanova.  Fortunately she doesn't.

I guess I'm not so popular, aww shucks. I have brought my lb the last three times I have been there. Only Gate and Mai say hello or talk to her and the rest ignor us which I expect bringing my own. however I don't expect to be looked down upon by the bar itself when I'm buying drinks for two.

One night a group of farangs were sitting outside drinking with only the occassional gb girl to come out and take a look. I went to the toilet, leaving my lb alone for a few minutes and came back to hear tell me about the circle of bm who she caught staring at her. With no Guess bar lbs around what are they supposed to look at? Not each other with those mugs. As I looked over my lbs shoulder, I could see them glaring trying to figure out if they had seen her before or perhaps if I was some guy on the forum. It never became to uncomfortable, and they all cleared out before we did. when they did, several of the Guess girls came outside to the vacated area. Kind of wierd, but it was near closing time.

So if bringing my lb is not so popular, then I have to prescribe to Socrates attitude of FUCK'em. After all it doesnt seem like anyone is all that popular there, except for Driftspunk of course.
