To put it into perspective on the opening night, Jay was telling me that Jane had 19 lady drinks bought for her

Get Jane to keep a record of comparison on how many ladydrinks she gets bought at KC3 and Guess Bar....that would be an interesting comparison to make. You could probably then prove to any prospective girls that they can make more money with Jay's business model.

KC3 = 10 drinks at xx baht each = xxx Baht
Guess = 19 drinks at yy baht each = yyy Baht

Get this balance right and you are on a winner....just don't aim for cheap prices when you have a high quality product

It sounds very nice but nice can be the worst word in the English language. The bar will appeal to many people but for people who visit BKK once or twice a year and want full-on action it is hard to go past the more dominant places.

This is the fun of BKK, if we really wanted Paris, London, Rome or whatever we would be there.

Please I am not trying to knock the new bar I really commend it I will be there with bells on in early December its just that we should not forsake our history and living in the fast lane is what some of the Nana and KC3 bars about this

.....all great conversation and speculation. I'm sure things will take months to sort our and get into a routine. As long as the owners are flexible and not locked into one specific business model.....they could make it successful.

Now about one of the posted pictures....did I really see a drinking straw in the Heineken beer? Please tell me that people don't really drink beer with a straw............is this like "air kisses".....they don't want to mess up their lip stick?

I think you are spot on - for sure this bar is not competing in the same segment as the Nana gogo's - if anything they complement each other. They are so far apart in terms of presentation of product, which I think can only be a good thing for the customer. I can actually see this bar being popular as a daytime hangout for a quick ST (once the full complement of staff are on board), as a meeting place early evening and as a venue for a guy who wants to go to a bar with a LB taken from elsewhere but does not want a full on club or equally being gawped at by some fat farang women if he took her to the Huntsman at the Landmark. Personally i will still go the Nana gogo's but its nice to have some other options as well.

And I think its up to guys like us to actually go and support Jay in her efforts whenever we can. For sure, if this model does not work, I can see what will happen is that she jacks up the prices and swaps crap copy spirits for the real thing - in exactly the same way as happens in many other bars at the moment. She has asked loads of people what they want - this bar is the result of that, time will tell if the model works or not. Probably the nicest thing for many of us BKK expats is that she has listened and acts on it - in my book that alone deserves some support - heck she even played Stogies music the other night that he brought in with him. He seemed happy at listening to Stand and Deliver by Adam and the Ants but I am not sure anyone else was LOL.

From what I could tell, she was also making a lot of effort to go and talk to every customer, ask his name and see how they liked the bar. Its a nice touch and completely unprompted.

What? Stogie played "Stand and Deliver" by Adam and the Ants? Fantastic! That was one of my very first 7 inch singles, when I was a kid! And I still like it today! Though it's not exactly a ladyboy bar classic....

Mardhi, I have one question here: Is it alright with Jay, if a customer just goes to the bar, with another ladyboy, that he barfined from another bar, just to buy some drinks and to hang out? I have done this within Nana Plaza, but sometimes the atmosphere is not very "welcoming", if you bring your own ladyboy already to the bar.

manyGo Go bars in Hong Kong the girl will suck on a large exotic cocktail made out of Orange juice and soda and pretend to get pissed as if its alcaholic. And you pay around 2K baht for the privilege

Ii just wonnder about the talent on offer. I will deffo spend time and monney in there. IMHO Cascades bar is the bomb. I go in there annd alwsy find a couple of fillies that get my pulse racing. If its anywhere near that level its a home run!!

Also day time action?? that would be someting that I would really have an interest in but you know these girls-they are hardcore vampires. hell even if they started at like 300 pm that would be considered daytime/early!! good luck to all involved annd.....BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!

Guess Bar will never have the 'quantity' of somewhere like Cascade, Obsession or KC3 simply because its not the same size but also and perhaps more importantly, Jay does not want the situation where the 'inmates' control the prison if you see my meaning - keeping the numbers to about 15 (5 daytime and 10 evening LB's) allows her to ensure that the customer does not get 'swamped' or pounced on. So far with 6 its working very well. They are not pouncing, they all get on well with each other, no bitchiness etc - taking it much larger starts to create problems in its own way. I think she is happy with 15 girls come December - but of course its an evolving bar - some may leave, others may join but I think she wants to float around this number of girls and also allows that if you bring in your own LB from another bar, that the LB you bring in does not feel threatened either. She could have filled the place with 50 LB's judging by how many people are applying but she is carefull who she is choosing, as only a LB can really understand another LB.
